A spot in the New York State semifinals is up for grabs when Section V and Section VI meet at the College at Brockport this upcoming weekend for the Football Far West Regionals. Here’s the breakdown:
LANCASTER LEGENDS (8-2) vs. MCQUAID JESUIT KNIGHTS (10-0)
How they arrived here: Third-seeded Lancaster (No. 23 NYSSWA) opened sectionals with a 23-17 win over Clarence. The Legends continued with a 28-7 victory over Jamestown in the semifinals and and a 23-17 triumph over Orchard Park in the finals.
McQuaid (No. 6 NYSSWA) downed No. 8 Monroe, 57-0, in the quarterfinals before beating Pittsford (20-7) and Aquinas (30-27) to win their second sectional title in program history and first since 1978.
