For either side, it’s been over ten years since it has won a sectional championship. The upcoming regional qualifier will conclude as the rubber match between Scio and Fillmore for the 2019 season, both teams attaining a four-goal win over the other. Here’s the breakdown:
Class D1 champions FILLMORE EAGLES (17-1-1/Allegany County Division I/Class D1) vs. Class D2 champions SCIO TIGERS (17-2-0/Allegany County Division I/Class D2)
How they got here: Fillmore (No.5 NYSSWA) defeated No.9 Arkport/Canaseraga 4-2 in the quarterfinals and shut out No.4 Kendall in the semis. The Eagles won the Class D1 title with a 2-0 win over No.2 Avoca. Scio (No.10 NYSSWA) beat No.8 Mount Morris and No.5 Prattsburgh to reach the championship. The Tigers set down No.6 Belfast for the Class D2 title.

Total goals allowed: Fillmore (13), Scio (20)
Last time they met: Fillmore defeated Scio 5-1 in their most recent meeting late in the regular season. Earlier in the year, Scio took the first game 4-0.
Trends: Fillmore has given up just two goals over its three postseason matches and enters the qualifier match with a five-game win streak. Scio has allowed one goal per game this postseason and are currently on a four-game win streak.
Names to know: Fillmore- Levi Webb (19 goals, nine assists), Tobias Webb (17 goals, six assists), Mitchell Ward (12 goals, six assists), Ethan Peet (11 goals, 21 assists), Trevor Clark (six goals, six assists), Dylan Valentine (1,185 minutes in goal, five goals against).
Scio- Luraritz Kruze (19 goals, 13 assists), Elia Travaini (18 goals, 11 assists), Bahrul Ulum (13 goals), Jake D’Arcy (six goals, 11 assists), Cam Loucks (seven goals, seven assists), Cory Bolzan (729 minutes in goal, six goals against).

History 101: This is the first time either team has made it to the state qualifier this decade. Fillmore was the most recent team to do it after winning the Class DD title in 2007. The victory over Belfast was Scio’s first sectional title since 1979. The Tigers had appeared in three straight semifinal rounds leading up to this year.
What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class D Far West Regional against the Section VI representative North Collins (9-7-0).
Fillmore and Scio are scheduled to play Wednesday at Houghton College. A 7 PM start time is scheduled.
