Ray Specht’s go-ahead, run-scoring single in the fifth inning proved to be the difference as the Flyin’ Fish (8-5) bounced back after being swept over the weekend. Tied at two apiece, Santino Rosso (Hofstra University) led off the frame with a groundball through the left side of the infield. Sean Sheets (Keuka College) drew a walk. With two outs, Specht (Niagara County Community College) dropped a fly ball into right field, which allowed Rosso to score the go-ahead run. James Sciortino closed the game with two perfect innings of relief.

Rosso went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. The freshman second baseman ripped an RBI triple to the left center fence and drove in Jorge Oropeza (Alfred State College) for the first run of the game. Rosso crossed the plate on Hayden Ewell’s (Southern New Hampshire) sacrifice fly as the Flyin’ Fish took a 2-0 lead.

Ryan Demitrovic (Alfred State College) earned the victory with five frames of two-run ball. The sophomore right-hander allowed two hits, three walks and struck out five batters. Demitrovic retired the last seven hitters he faced as well.

For the Wings (5-6), Justin Graham (St. John Fisher College) and Thomas Pasquale (St. John Fisher College) both connected for back-to-back extra-base hits to tie the game in the third. Graham tripled down the right field line and brought in Ryan Hill (Monroe Community College). Pasquale launched a ground rule double over the left field fence to tie the game. Frank Lauricella (Finger Lakes Community College) hurled five innings of three-run ball. The freshman left-hander allowed three hits, three walks and fanned three batters. Lauricella retired nine straight hitters between the second and fifth innings as well.

Tyler Coy and Erik Gauer (Gordon College) cracked a two-run homer apiece underneath the scoreboard in left center field as the Lake Monsters (5-6) won their third straight game. Coy’s shot was part of a three-run opening frame as the Monsters took an early 3-0 lead. Gauer’s homer came in the third for a 5-2 edge. Coy and Gauer both drew a walk and crossed the plate twice as well. Anthony Kanaval (Genesee Community College) earned the save with a pair of perfect innings in relief and struck out three batters.

Nicolas Fiore (SUNY Fredonia) and Michael Jamele (Merrimack College) both went 1-for-3 at the dish. Jamele had an RBI. Nate Sanderson (Hilbert College) drew a walk and drove in a run. Andrew Treviso (Alfred State College) battled through five innings and was awarded the victory. The freshman right-hander allowed five hits and struck out four batters. Treviso retired six straight hitters between the second and fourth innings as well.

For the Monarchs (3-10), Tyler Broderick (Keuka College) and Jeff Wilson both connected for a hit and drove in a run. Noah Campanelli (St. John Fisher College) and Maxwell Yale (Allegheny College) both had a base knock and crossed the plate once. Will Porter (Rochester Institute of Technology) singled and drew a pair of walks.
