FREDONIA, N.Y. — Tim McClare hurled a complete game, and the Gananda Blue Panthers downed Falconer (VI), 4-1 to reach to the New York State Class C semifinals.
McClare struck out 16 and allowed one run on three hits as Gananda (19-4) won its eighth straight game.
Patrick Walsh connected on a one-out single in the fourth to give Gananda all the runs it needed.
With Zach Ciprich aboard on a hit by pitch and McClare on with a double, Walsh started the scoring with a base hit. Luke Ciprich capped the inning with a base hit to score Walsh for a 3-0 Gananda lead.
Zach Ciprich scored two runs in the game.
Jayden Castrechini collected a double and an RBI.
After issuing a walk to start the game, McClare six of the next seven batters he faced. The senior right-hander took a shutout into the seventh inning.
Gananda will play the Fort Plain (II) vs. Ticonderoga (VII) winner next weekend in the state semifinals.
