Section V Semifinal Preview: Boys’ Basketball Class C3

The top four seeds advanced in Class C3. Semifinal action tips off Monday. Here’s the breakdown:

No. 1 CALEDONIA-MUMFORD (20-1/Livingston County Division II) vs. No. 4 NAPLES (14-8/Finger Lakes West) Tuesday, Feb. 26, 6:00 PM at Letchworth High School

Scoring offense: Cal-Mum (65.79 PPG), Naples (52.15 PPG)

Scoring defense: Cal-Mum (52.95 PPG), Naples (54.55 PPG)

Current streak: Cal-Mum has won nine straight; Naples has won two straight.

How they got here: Vinny Molisani poured in a career-high 30 points as Cal-Mum beat No. 8 Clyde-Savannah 79-38 in quarterfinals.

Behind 23 points and five assists from Cole Rathbun, Naples defeated No. 5 Oakfield Alabama 55-42 in quarterfinals. The Big Green forced 22 turnovers and shot 53 percent from the floor.

No. 2 LYNDONVILLE (18-3/Genesee Region Division II) vs. No. 3 YORK (15-6/Livingston County Division III) Tuesday, Feb. 26, 5:30 PM at Batavia High School

Scoring offense: Lyndonville (66.56 PPG), York (60.56 PPG)

Scoring defense: Lyndonville (53.61 PPG), York (56.61 PPG)

Current streak: Lyndonville has won three of its last four; York has won three straight.

How they got here: Lyndonville took down No. 7 Harley-Allendale-Columbia 83-61 in quarterfinals.

Matt McFarland led York with 25 points, 19 in the second half, as York defeated No. 6 Pavilion 68-52 in quarterfinals. Riley Stella and James Kennedy also racked up double-digits with 16 and 13, respectively.

Players to watch for Lyndonville: Matt Hess Sr., Nathan Hydock Jr., Zach Johnson Sr. and Nathan Poler Sr.
