ROCHESTER- Coming into this week, Pittsford Mendon and Northstar Christian, the two remaining undefeated teams in Section V, had daunting tasks ahead of them. The Northstar Christian Knights (No. 7 NYSSWA Class A/No. 3 PS LS Poll) had two road games against Bishop Kearney and Charles G. Finney (No. 7 NYSSWA Class C/No. 3 PS SS Poll). The Pittsford Mendon Vikings hosted Wilson Magnet and Greece Athena (No. 11 NYSSWA Class A/No. 4 PS LS Poll) and traveled to Fairport (No. 8 PS LS Poll).
The Knights could not preserve an undefeated record as they lost their first game of the season at Bishop Kearney Tuesday night.
However, the Vikings (18-0/No. 3 NYSSWA Class A/No. 1 PS LS Poll) delivered three more victories. Monday night, senior forward Daniel Cook recorded his 15 double-double with 16 points and 18 rebounds in a 70-34 win over the Wilson Magnet Wildcats.
On Wednesday, the Vikings came out on top over Fairport, 66-58, in a matchup of top-ranked defenses in Monroe CountyFriday night, head coach Bob Nally’s squad turned away their fellow division rival, Greece Athena, with an 83-57 victory.
The Vikings are now tied with Caledonia-Mumford (No. 10 NYSSWA Class C/No. 5 PS SS Poll) for the most wins in Section V. For the last week of the regular season, Nally’s squad will travel to play Brockport Tuesday night before hosting Greece Arcadia Thursday. Both games set to tip off at 7:15 PM.
WE DIDN’T FORGET ABOUT….
UPrep ended Gates-Chili’s (No. 24 NYSSWA Class AA/No. 5 PS LS Poll) eight-game winning streak, Tuesday night, with an 81-80 victory and took down Aquinas, 68-49, on Friday. Monroe halted School of the Arts’ eight-game win streak with a 77-58 victory, Wednesday night, and defeated Early College Friday, 87-68. Greece Olympia defeated World of Inquiry Wednesday, 70-57, before winning back-to-back games over the weekend against Honeoye Falls-Lima, 52-45, and Brighton, 56-52. The Spartans have won five straight. Hornell took down Avon (No. 9 NYSSWA Class C/No. 4 PS SS Poll) Tuesday night, 60-54, and Cuba-Rushford Friday, 64-52. Newark (No. 7 PS SS Poll) defended home court against Penn Yan Tuesday night, 62-42, and picked up a road win at Waterloo Friday, 66-58. The Newark Reds have won five in a row. Bloomfield held off Naples Wednesday night, 62-58, and Romulus Friday, 77-67. Caledonia-Mumford (No. 10 NYSSWA Class C/No. 5 PS SS Poll) won at Dansville Wednesday night, 68-49, and tallied back-to-back home victories this weekend over Avon (No. 9 NYSSWA Class C/No. 4 PS SS Poll), 57-50, and LeRoy, 66-54. The Caledonia-Mumford Raiders are on a seven-game winning streak. Avoca (No. 3 NYSSWA Class D) closed the regular season with a win over Alfred-Almond Wednesday night, 66-36, and Addison Saturday, 76-55.

Hilton vs. Fairport– Hilton (No. 7 PS LS Poll) is averaging 69 points per game and Fairport (No. 8 PS LS Poll) allows 55.9. Game set to tip off Thursday night 7:30 PM at Fairport High School.
Irondequoit vs. Churchville-Chili– Irondequoit (No. 9 PS LS Poll) is giving up 51.1 points per game while Churchville-Chili scores 64.3. Game set to tip off Tuesday night at 7:15 PM at Churchville-Chili High School.
Pittsford Mendon vs. Brockport– Pittsford Mendon (No. 3 NYSSWA Class A/No. 1 PS LS Poll) is scoring 81.3 points per game and Brockport allows 62.2. Game set to tip off Tuesday night at 7:15 PM at the Oliver Middle School Gymnasium.
Greece Athena vs. Pittsford Sutherland– Greece Athena (No. 11 NYSSWA Class A/No. 4 PS LS Poll) averages 65.7 points per game while Pittsford Sutherland gives up 54.1. Game set to tip off Thursday night at 7:15 PM at Pittsford Sutherland High School.
