This wasn’t what Matt McCormick had in mind when he envisioned Wednesday night’s non-league matchup. With Fidel Brock retuning to the lineup for the first time in six games, McCormick hoped to ease the backcourt player into the lineup.

Evan Insley drained seven threes on his way to a game and season-high 23 points, leading Arcadia to its first win this season. Seven Titans contributed to the steady offense that kept Vertus from cutting into their lead. Following Insley, Jerell Robinson notched 11 points, his season-high. Six-foot-four junior Jabez Thompson led Vertus with 16 points; Cesar Ostolaza followed with 12 points, including two treys. Jayden Peters knocked down two from behind the arc and two at the line to lead Newark’s comeback in the final quarter. Peters and Devin Agosto combined for ten points in Newark’s 17-11 third quarter, starting a second half rally. In the fourth, the Reds gained the lead for the first time and secured the win, as they outscored Batavia 19-9. Peters finished with a game-high 24 points behind five three-pointers. Backing him was Mason VanDeMortel with 14 and Agosto with 12. Batavia led 41-37 until the third, in part to Caeden White’s seven threes. Five RACS Racers combined for 20 points in the third quarter to knot the game at 50 at the start of the final quarter. RAC’s Albert Tomlin dropped nine in the squad’s 15-point fourth, while Honeoye’s Dom Trippi sank all 15 points for his squad’s 15-point fourth. With the game in overtime, Tomlin hit two field goals and the eventual game-winning free throw. Tomlin finished with 31 points on 12 field goals, one three, and a 4-for-9 night at the stripe. Tumashye McCullough followed with 14, including four from behind the arc. On the other end, Trippi finished with 30 on nine field goals, three treys, and 3-for-5 at the line. Tristan Stark and Zach Hammond each added ten. The game-leading scorer, however, belonged to Addison. Senior Danny Ames finished with a season-high 45 points.

Sophomores Ethan Covert, Kris Johnson, and James Crowder each reached double-digits with 13, 12, and 11 points, respectively. Ammon Anderson contributed ten points.
