CHURCHVILLE-CHILI SAINTS (Class AA)

Last season: 12-4-1, lost 3-2 to Webster Thomas in Class AA quarter-finals

Coach: John Mahoney (76-53-14)

Top returners: Colby Egan (Sr. Midfielder – four year starter with 14 goals and 13 assists in his career, earned First Team All-County in 2017), Andrew Vannest (Sr. Midfielder – recognized with Second Team All-County honors last season, one goal and seven career assists), Dylan Rippe (Sr. Forward), Mario Cozzo (Jr. Midfielder – tallied five goals and three assists in his career), David Perkins (Sr. Defense – three year starter), Chase Richardson (Sr. Goalkeeper)

Top newcomers: Gaven Egan (Fr. Midfielder), Henri Koch (Sr. Forward)

Next game: Saturday vs. Canandaigua

Outlook: After a 12-4-1 2017 season with 17 returning players, a winning season is on the horizon for Churchville-Chili. The returners totaled 16 goals and 19 assists last year. Can they piece together another successful season to prepare them for a sectional run?

GATES-CHILI SPARTAN (Class AA)

Last season: 7-11, lost 6-0 to McQuaid in Class AA quarter-finals

Coach: Jim Vanderhoof (7-11/2nd season)

Top returners: Kristian Annibali (Sr. Midfielder, Captain – led the team in assists in the 2017 season, earning Second Team All-County honors), Dustin Meyer (Sr. Defender, Captain – Second Team All-County player for his junior campaign), Justin Bailey (Sr. Goalkeeper, Captain – rewrote the school’s all-time save record in a single season)

Top newcomers: Adam Blackwell (So. Forward), Nick Furino (Jr. Midfielder)

Current record: 0-1-0

Next game: Wednesday, September 5th at Irondequoit

Outlook: After a breakout season for the Spartans, the three senior captains and second-year coach look to lead them to another successful one. Gates Chili returns majority of its starting roster, while adding young, competitive attackers. What can the Spartans accomplish with this talented group?

IRONDEQUOIT EAGLES (Class A1)

Last season: 2-15-1, lost 4-0 in quarter-finals to eventual Class A1 champion, Brockport.

Outlook: The Eagles are not lacking experience with eight starters returning to their lineup. They are currently 1-2-1 with six total goals on the season. Will Irondequoit’s offense surge to keep them competitive throughout this season?

SPENCERPORT RANGERS (Class A1)

Last season: 5-9-2

Coach: Tom Etsler (240-146-51/24th season)

Top returners: Ajan Rajamohan (Sr. Defender), Justin Hockenberger (Sr. Forward), Gino Pellett (Jr. Midfielder)

Top newcomers: Max La Rosa (Jr. Midfielder), Jacob Lenhard (Fr. Midfielder), Tristan Szczepanski (So. Midfielder), Jadon Schlierf (Jr. Goalkeeper)

Current record: 1-2-0 (1-1-0)

Next game: Thursday vs. Eastridge

Outlook: Spencerport adds a lot of new talent to its roster. However, the Rangers look to compete every night. Can these new faces surprise the division?

WEBSTER THOMAS TITANS (Class AA)

Last season: 10-5-2, lost 1-0 in the semi-finals to McQuaid

Coach: Steve Grose (166-97-34/17th year)

Top returners: Ilya Yurovskiy (Sr. Defender), Cam Webb (Jr. Center Back)

Top newcomers: Isaac Buckley (So.), Zach Wolfe (So.)

Current record: 0-1-0

Next game: Wednesday, September 5th at Canandaigua

Outlook: The Titans are pulling from their program’s younger talent, so the team will need to adjust and solidify as the season moves along. Will Webster Thomas’ late 2017 sectional run impact and motivate the young players?

CANANDAIGUA BRAVES (Class A1)

Last season: Lost to Brighton (2-0) in Class A1 quarterfinals.

Current record: 1-0-0

Next game: Wednesday, September 5th vs. Webster Thomas
