Chase Seibold (Brighton) finished 2-for-3 and sparked a three-run third with a leadoff triple as DI Blue (3-6) never trailed in Upstate Baseball League action at Basket Road Field, Monday night. Seibold came around to score on a Jacob Heredia (Edison Tech) RBI base hit. Heredia and Noah Horn (Greece Athena) crossed home later in that third inning. Troy Leibert (Brockport) hurled three shutout innings and picked up his first win of the season. The right-hander struck out one, allowed two hits and threw 31 pitches (19 for strikes).

Seibold added a pair of insurance runs with a two-out, two-run double in the seventh. Leibert singled and scored. Grant Rodriguez (Rush-Henrietta) doubled and scored. Jarod Signorelli (Victor) walked and drove in a run. DI Orange’s Matt Piccaretto (Webster Schroeder) drove in a run and scored another with a single and a walk. Orange (4-4) used seven different pitchers in the game.

Jim Marasco (Webster Thomas) needed 11 pitches (seven strikes) in a three-up, three-down sixth. Walker Wright (Rush-Henrietta) went 2-for-2.

DII RED 1
DII BLUE 2
Carlos Fantauzzi (Canandaigua) shut the door with a pair of strike outs as DII Blue held off a late DII Red charge. With a pair of runners in scoring position including the go-ahead run, Fantauzzi registered his second and third strike outs of the night and notched his first save of the season. AJ DeBalso (Canandaigua) started and hurled three shutout frames for the win. The right-hander struck out two, walked one and allowed two hits for his first win of the season. Zach Allen (Greece Athena) tossed two scoreless stanzas with three strike outs and two walks. The trio combined to limit Red to five hits.

Alan Michael LeFrois (Churchville-Chili) brought home the eventual winning run with an RBI ground out in the fourth inning. Allen worked a leadoff walk in the fourth. Blue sent eight batters to the plate and scored two runs in the frame without virtue of a hit. Devin Cannon (Spencerport) reached on an error and scored. Chase Playfair (Penfield) started and threw three shutout innings for DII Red. The right-hander struck out four, walked two and faced two batters over the limit. Tyler Cerame (Hilton) needed eight pitches to work a 1-2-3 shutout seventh.

Zach Harnischfeger (Greece Athena) went 2-for-2 on the night including a one-out RBI double in the seventh. Red left a runner on third in each of the last innings and seven runners total over those three stanzas. Jack Zawacki (Pittsford Sutherland) connected on a one-out triple in the fifth but was left stranded. Keenan Calenzo (Eastridge) singled and stole second to start the sixth. Calenzo moved to third on an Ethan Behnke (Victor) ground out.
Notes: Gabrielle Brice, an eighth-grader at Gananda Middle School, sang the National Anthem before both games Monday night
