Jason Schulz (RIT) paced a 14-hit attack while Evan Pappalardo (Finger Lakes CC) and Mike Deckert (Alfred) combined on a 5-hitter. Schulz finished 3-for-4 including a single that scored two in a four-run sixth as the Fish put the game out of reach. Phil Ferranti (Monroe CC) sparked the inning with a one-out base hit up the middle. Shane Hake (Elmira College) walked, and Sean Sheets (Keuka College) connected on the first of three straight two-out RBI hits for the Fish. Schulz plated Sheets and Nic Fiore with a single to left center.
Pappalardo improved to 3-1 on the summer. The right-hander allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks. He fanned three in the game. Deckert hurled four no-hit innings for the save and faced two over the minimum.
The Fish took advantage of two errors to and put three runs on the scoreboard in the second inning. Ryan Hill (Monroe CC) reached on a one-out inning single. John Faynor (Genesee CC) singled one out later, and Hake followed with a base hit. Hill scored when Hake’s single was misplayed in right field. Two more scored when Jayson Faynor (Genesee CC) reached on an error.

Jeff Wilson (LeMoyne College) gave the Fish lead for good with solo shot to left field to start the third inning. Kole Brink (SUNY Fredonia) singled and scored in the fourth. Dan Bamann (Keuka College) and Anthony Mashewske (Keuka College) collected an RBI in the fifth to give the Fish a 7-4 lead.
Wilson went 2-for-2 on the night with a walk and two runs scored. Fiore, Hake and Sheets scored two runs apiece. Ben Martin (Brockport College) walked three times and scored a run.
Dom Palma (Manhattan) pulled the Lake Monsters within one at 3-2 with a two-run home run in the second – Palma’s third round tripper of the summer. Nate Chase (Grand Valley State), Dan Freese (Cazenovia College), Brennen Smith (Monroe CC) and David Stirpe (Messiah College) scored a run apiece for the Monsters.
The loss snapped a three-game Lake Monsters (15-10) winning streak. The Fish (14-11) won their third straight and climbed within a game of the division-leading Monsters.
