FLYIN’ FISH 10
Evan Pappalardo (Finger Lakes CC) hurled six innings and picked up his second win in as many starts as the Flyin’ Fish (10-9) won for the fourth time in five games. Pappalardo struck out three, walked two and allowed four runs on six hits. Kole Brink (SUNY Fredonia) and Jason Schulz (RIT) combined for five hits, three RBI and three runs scored to pace the Fish offense.

The duo collected a single and a run scored apiece in the first inning to give the Fish a lead, and they never trailed. Brink finished 2-for-2 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored. Schulz went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Nic Fiore and Shane Hake (Elmira College) scored two runs apiece. Fiore added an RBI. Matt Carroll (SUNY Fredonia), Jayson Faynor (Genesee CC) and John Faynor (Genesee CC) scored a run apiece. Jonathan Catapano (Monroe CC) led the Lake Monsters at the plate going 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI. Adam Chase (Finger Lakes CC) had two hits and scored twice.

Dan Freese (Cazenovia) highlighted a three-run fifth with a go-ahead double as the Lake Monsters (12-8) came from behind to avoid a second straight loss. Freese plated Brennen Smith (Monroe CC) and Zach Harter with a two-bagger to left center. Two outs later, Brian Linton (Johns Hopkins) delivered a run-scoring single to give the Monsters a 6-4 lead.

Zach Devito (Corning CC) struck out six over five innings for his first win of the season. Smith fanned five over two innings and notched his first save of the summer. Nate Chase (Grand Valley State) finished 2-for-3 on the night including his league-leading fourth home run of the season – a solo shot to left center in the fourth inning. Max Troiani (Bentley University) doubled, drove in a run and scored another. Harter also doubled and drove in a run. Dom Palma (Manhattan) singled and scored. Aaron Shoemaker (Finger Lakes CC) delivered a two-run single to give the Monarchs (12-8) a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning. Ryan Kalbfus (Gannon) was 2-for-3 with a solo home run for the ‘Narchs. Tommy Baxter (Dayton) and Tyler Cyrus (John Carroll) singled and scored a run apiece. Cole Penders (Brockport College) had a hit, a walk and an RBI. Jackson Smith (Ithaca College) walked and scored a run.
