Tanner Cooper (Finger Lakes CC) allowed one run on four hits over six innings to pick up the win. The right-hander struck out nine and walked three for his first win of the summer. Cooper surrendered one hit the first time through the order and set down nine of the first 11 he faced. Jackson Smith (Ithaca College) sparked a five-run Monarchs (7-6) fifth with a bases-loaded single to score Hector Vargas (Corning CC) and Cole Penders (Brockport College). Vargas walked three times and scored twice in the game.

Brandon Henshaw (St. Bonaventure), Tyler Cyrus (John Carroll) and Max Argento (John Carroll) collected an RBI apiece. Ryan Kalbfus (Gannon) singled and scored a run. Tommy Baxter (Dayton) added a run. Aaron Shoemaker (Finger Lakes CC) walked twice and scored. Mike Magnanti (St. Bonaventure) went 2-for-4.

Nate Chase (Grand Valley State) led the Lake Monsters (8-6) going 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs scored. Zach Harter singled, walked twice and drove in a run. Hayden Ewell (So New Hampshire) allowed an unearned run on a hit over three innings out of the bullpen.

Jackson Smith (Ithaca College) scampered home on a wild pitch with the winning run in the top of the seventh, and the Monarchs (8-6) moved into a tie with the Lake Monsters for first place in the ICBL’s Rochester Division. With the game knotted at three, Smith worked a leadoff walk and moved to second on a Max Argento (John Carroll) sacrifice bunt before eventually scoring.

Mike Donofrio (Brockport College) improved to 3-0 on the season. The left-hander allowed two runs on three hits over three innings of relief work. Quin Ignaszak (Bethel College) started and allowed one run on four hits over four innings in the scheduled seven-inning game. Ignaszak, who was pressed into service during game one of the night, struck out nine and walked. The right-hander worked an inning and a third in the earlier outing. Tyler Cyrus (John Carroll) finished 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Cole Penders (Brockport College) singled and scored. Argento crossed home earlier in the game. Stephen Kemp (Medaille College) and Hector Vargas (Corning CC) drove in a run apiece. Christian Montanez (Roger Williams) knotted the game at three for the Fish with a two-out, two-run single in the sixth.

Jason Schulz (RIT) and Ben Martin (Brockport College) both finished 2-for-3 with a double for the Fish. Martin drove in a run. Schulz scored once. Ryan Hill (Monroe CC) doubled and scored a run.

John Gassler (New York University) fanned five over 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
