FLYING FISH 18
MONARCHS 3
Ryan Hill (Monroe CC) hurled six shutout innings, and the Flying took advantage of Monarch generosity in a blowout win. Hill allowed seven hits and faced just four over the minimum in his second appearance on the mound this summer. The right-hander threw 81 pitches (58 for strikes) and lowered his ERA to 0.88 in eight innings of work. He faced the minimum in two innings and only allowed multiple runners in one frame. Dan Bamann (Keuka College) finished 3-for-5 including a run-scoring triple in the first when the Flying Fish scored two runs and never looked back. The Fish put crooked numbers on the Towers Field scoreboard in six of the nine innings. Jeff Wilson (LeMoyne College), Jason Schulz (RIT), Anthony Mashewske (Keuka College) and Christian Montanez scored three runs apiece. Montanez connected on a seventh-inning grand slam and finished with five RBI on the night. Kole Brink (SUNY Fredonia) added three RBI. Schulz had two hits and two RBI. Brandon Henshaw (St. Bonaventure) drove in all three of the Monarchs runs with a seventh-inning home run – his second inside-the-park job in as many games. Mike Magnanti (St. Bonaventure), Tanner Cooper (Finger Lakes CC), Stephen Kemp (Medaille) and Jackson Smith (Ithaca College) collected two hits apiece for the Monarchs. Tyler Cyrus (John Carroll) struck out two, walked one and allowed one hit over two shutout innings of relief work.
