Brandon Henshaw (St. Bonaventure) paced an 11-hit attack with five base raps including a run-scoring single in the first as the Monarchs put a crooked number on the scoreboard and never trailed. Henshaw finished 3-for-5 on the night and collected four RBI. Jason Wasilnak (St. John Fisher) hurled four innings to pick up the win. The left-hander fanned three and allowed two runs on three hits in his second appearance of the summer. Wasilnak allowed one run on three hits over three innings in the Monarchs opener. The Monarchs top of the order, Raymond Specht (Niagara County CC), Tommy Baxter (University of Dayton) and Mike Magnanti (St. Bonaventure) scored two runs apiece. Baxter put the game out of reach in the seventh with a triple that scored Aaron Shoemaker (Finger Lakes CC) and Stephen Kemp (Medaille). Baxter collected three RBI in the game. Kemp went 2-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored. Mike Donofrio (Brockport College) hurled three shutout innings in relief. The right-hander struck out five, walked one and faced two over the minimum. Donofrio threw 47 pitches, 29 for strikes. Jonathan Catapano (Monroe CC) finished a triple shy of the cycle to lead the Lake Monsters. Catapano connected on a solo shot in the eighth. David Stirpe (Messiah College) singled, walked and scored a run.

Dylan Hillabush (Niagara) started and hurled three innings for the win, and the Flying Fish won their first game of the season. After allowing a run on three hits in the first inning, Hillabush set down five of the next six he faced. The left-hander fanned struck out four without a walk and surrendered six hits. Christian Montanez took the baton and surrendered a run on two hits over two innings. Jayson Faynor (Genesee CC) needed 25 pitches to get through two shutout innings. The right-hander punched out three and walked none. With Hillabush holding serve, the Flying Fish jumper to an early 5-1 advantage. Anthony Mashewske (Keuka College) finished 2-for-3 and reached base three times. The right fielder scored three runs and drove in another. Jeff Wilson (LeMoyne) doubled, walked and drove in two runs. Dan Bamann (Keuka College) was 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. The game featured a brother vs. brother duel when Cody Cooper (Finger Lakes CC) came to the plate in the seventh against his younger brother Tanner Cooper (Finger Lakes CC). The elder Cooper got the better of this meeting connecting for a three-run tater which he deposited over the fence in left-centerfield.

Michael Perlo (Cornell) scored twice in the game. The Monarchs Tommy Baxter (Daytona) was 2-for-2 and finished with three hits and three RBI on the night. Stephen Kemp (Medaille) went 2-for-3. Mike Jamele (Merrimack College) had two hits and scored a run.
