Greece Athena’s Trojans capped a 3-0 week with a tilt-of-the-eyebrow 12-2 victory over Webster Schroeder (did at least a double take with that score) on Saturday to grab Team of the Week. With the win, Athena claimed the Irondequoit Tournament championship. Mike Ruta, who hurled six innings in the championship and connected on a two-run homer for Athena, garnered MVP honors. Ryan Ballard and James Sciortino earned All-Tournament team nods. Ballard was 4-for-4 with a double and three runs scored in a 10-2 win over Greece Arcadia earlier in the day. Sciortino fanned five and surrendered five hits in a complete-game effort against Arcadia. The Trojans put their five-game winning streak on the line when they travel to Mendon to take on the Vikings (4-3/1-1) Monday.
WE DIDN’T FORGET ABOUT …
