BUFFALO, N.Y — DJ Billings scored eight of his team-high 12 in the fourth quarter, but a late rally came up short as the Greece Odyssey Leopards lost to the Health Sciences Falcons 52-46 in the NYS Class B Far West Regional, Saturday afternoon at Buffalo State College.
Trailing by 14 after three quarters, Billings finished in the lane on a second-chance opportunity to spark an 11-3 Leopards run. The senior guard later nailed a step-back baseline jumper with 3:09 remaining to pull Odyssey within six at 42-36.
But that was as close as Odyssey would get.
Kameron Briggs responded on the next possession for Health Sciences with three of his 10 points, and the Falcons advanced to the Class B semi-final where they will meet the Westhill (III) vs. Seton Catholic (IX) winner.
Davonte Gaines paced Health Sciences with 13 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Josiah Haywood added 11 points for the Falcons.
Odyssey (17-8) outscored Health Sciences (21-4) in the paint (28-26), on second-chance points (14-11) and off the bench (12-7).
