How they got here: Northstar Christian opened sectionals with an 89-24 win over No. 16 seed North Rose-Wolcott. The Knights followed with a 99-69 victory over East Rochester in the quarter-finals and a 66-42 triumph over No. 5 Marcus Whitman in the semis.
Pembroke defeated No. 15 Holley, 59-37 to start. The Dragons ousted No. 7 Gananda, 67-58 to move on to the semi-finals before eliminating No. 6 Avon, 65-50.
Lofty combatants: Northstar Christian ranked No. 3 in the most recent NYSSWA poll. Pembroke is No. 4.
History 101: Northstar, a state semifinalist a year ago, is looking to win its third straight sectional title. Pembroke is making its first appearance in the finals since 2012.
Trends: Led by 2,000-point career scorer Miles Brown, Northstar averaged 87 points per game this season. Pembroke held opponents to 45 points per game.
