Greece Athena continued the Monroe County League’s longest winning streak (13) with three more victories this past week. The Black and Gold opened the week holding off Pittsford Mendon before halting Irondequoit’s nine-game streak on Wednesday. They finished the week beating Brockport. With the win over Irondequoit, Athena completed a three-game sweep of state-ranked opponents going back to the previous Friday’s victory over Pittsford Sutherland. Over that three-game stretch, the Trojans knocked off teams with a combined record of 34-5 at the time of tip-off. The current No. 1 seed in Class A1 is scoring 73 points per game while holding opponents under 54. Athena (16-1) has scored 70 or more points in six of its last seven games and has held eight opponents to 50 points or fewer this season. Nigel Scantlebury (15.8 ppg) leads three Trojans scoring in double figures. Christian Jones adds 15.6 and Ryan Kubanka 12.1. Patrick Meisenzahl scores 8.5 per game to go with an assist to turnover rate of 4.0:1.

WE DIDN’T FORGET ABOUT ….
Wilson Wildcats – Three wins last week and Wilson (12-6) clinched RCAC Division B. Winners of six straight, the Wildcats have the longest winning streak in the RCAC. The combination of Robert Davis and Brennan Clark provided a highlight of the week. More on that later.
McQuaid Jesuit Knights – Rumors of a demise have been greatly exaggerated. With three wins last week, including triumphs over Fairport and a resurgent Bishop Kearney, the Jesuit Knights (9-7) moved into the No. 4 seed in AA. McQuaid (9-7) has won five in a row after opening the season with three losses.
Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets – The Royal Comets (13-4) opened with a win over Webster Thomas. They cooled a hot Gates-Chili (winners of five straight) squad on Friday and 24 hours later knocked off Edison Tech. R-H currently has the top spot in AA.
Honeoye Bulldogs – Honoeye (10-7) capped a 3-0 week by handing Marcus Whitman its first loss in Finger Lakes West play. The Bulldogs (10-7 overall/8-6 FLW) won last week’s three contests by an average margin of 18.7 points per game.
