Section V Weekend Roundup: Scotts deliver for Penfield, Athena’s speed (not Kenny but team) and Spencerport is looking for a break

SATURDAY

SOTA 66 BATH HAVERLING 41 Reggie Smith scored 17 of game-high 23 points in the second half as SOTA erased a 12-8 deficit after the first quarter. Smith hit two 3-pointers and led three in double figures for the Silverhawks (5-5). Ethain Clarke DeSouza added 20 points, and Joe Denegal had 11 for SOTA. Markese Bellamy chipped in seven and Jamari Hills five. Stephan Ordway and Blake Hess scored 12 apiece for Bath-Haverling. Derrick Ferguson added six. Ethan Buckley added three points for the Rams.

GEORGE FOWLER 78 CLYDE-SAVANNAH 83 Dru Carnavale hit four 3-pointers and finished with 30 points to lead Clyde-Savannah. Carnavale added seven rebounds and three steals. Marcus Chance also connected four times behind the arc and added 18 points for the Golden Eagles. Derrick Chance had 23 points and five assists. Cam Chance contributed seven points, seven rebounds and five steals. Pat Marchitell scored three points for Clyde and Nicholas had two.

SHENENDEHOWA (II) 54 FAIRPORT 46  Andrew Bartlett hit five 3-pointers and finished with 15 points, and Brett Heininger added 12 for Fairport which trailed by five at halftime. Vanzell Johnson scored six points, and Anthony Pappano chipped in with five. Andre Starks and Ryan Lucey scored two apiece. Shenendehowa hit 20 of 25 free throws for the game. Fairport finished 20 of 28 from the stripe.

EAST 60 CARDINAL O’HARA (VI) 50 Chaz Washington paced East with 20 points. Jordan Randolph added 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Eagles.

MIDLAKES 60 GROTON (IV) 40 Bryce Burri scored 21 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and handed out six assists to lead Midlakes. Devin Hicks added 13 points and five rebounds. Trevor Milliman had eight points and 10 rebounds.

ADDISON 63 ODESSA-MONTOUR 64 Danny Ames hit six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 36 points, but it was not enough for Addison to overcome 20-3 deficit after the first quarter. Ames paced a fourth-quarter comeback with three 3s and 14 points as Addison outscored O-M 27-18. Adam Chilson added 11 points. Nick Solinas scored eight. Nick Sutryk and Shawn Ribble had three apiece. Evan McIlwain chipped in two points. Curtis Harris led O-M with 26 points. Ames had eight rebounds and three steals for Addison.

FRIDAY DOUG WESTCOTT MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT – BROCKPORT

GATES-CHILI 76 SPENCERPORT 75 Keith Slack and Thomas Jones III combined to score 39 points, and Gates-Chili held off a fourth-quarter Spencerport rally to take the Doug Westcott Memorial championship. Slack connected six times behind the arc including five 3s in the first quarter and finished with 24 points and nine assists. Jones scored nine of his 15 points in the fourth quarter. The senior forward grabbed seven rebounds for the game. G-C’s Mark Morrison II hit two treys in the third quarter as the Spartans took a 10-point lead into the final eight minutes. Spencerport’s Josh Reding hit two 3-pointers and scored 12 of his game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough for the Rangers (3-5) whose last three losses have been by a combined seven points. Alton Jones, Jr. scored 18 points for Spencerport. Noah Mundt added 14, and Evan Clarke had 10. Malcolm McCollough scored eight for the Rangers. Adam Williams had 13 points for Gates-Chili (5-3). Damon Payton had 10. Morrison finished with nine. Damon Austin and Devin Walton scored two apiece. Traylan McCray chipped in a point for the Spartans. Gates-Chili hit 14 of 16 free throw attempts for the game including five of six in the fourth quarter. Jones returned to action Thursday after missing four games. The Spartans are 4-0 with Jones in the lineup.

CHURCHVILLE-CHILI 50 BROCKPORT 60 Amire Odey scored all of his game-high 18 points in the second half as Brockport broke open a tied game. Odey connected twice behind the 3-point arc and collected eight points in a third quarter to help the Blue Devils take a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter. Jake Jurhs netted 10 of his 11 points in the third. Cory Gross scored seven of his 13 points in the fourth. Marcellus James paced Churchville-Chili with 16 points. Griffin Stella had 11 for the Saints. Corey Powell scored eight for C-C. Fidel Brock and Marcus Postell chipped in six points apiece. Dennis Swetz had two and Amari Conyers one. Noah Schultz scored seven points for Brockport. Willie Ball had five. Alex Trostle scored four points. Mike Krueger had two.

LIVONIA 49 OT HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA 48 Cody Ullock hit the game-winning 3-pointer with no time remaining in OT to seal the come-from-behind win. Barret Lowe finished with 17 points including two free throws at the end of regulation to tie the game. Lowe hauled in 14 rebounds. Devante Gwyn also registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Alex Minnehan scored 11 points and handed out four assist for Livonia.

CANANDAIGUA 56 PENFIELD 57 Isaiah Preston scored 14 points including the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer as Penfield erased a late deficit and improved to 5-4 on the season. The Patriots Bryson Scott finished with a game-high 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the floor. Dyllon Scott added 10 points for Penfield. The Patriot connected on 23 of 46 shots for the game. Connor Fisher paced Canandaigua with 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor. Jack Ferris added 14 points for the Braves. Scott Loforte had 10 points. Canandaigua’s Noah Emerson grabbed a game-high eight rebounds to go with four points. Other scorers: Canandaigua – Devin O’Dell (6) and Chris Kurowski (5). Penfield – Javion Monroe (5), Ryan Novy (1) and Patrick Piampiano (4).

Des Ellis added 13 points. Nate Doyle had six for the Lions. Davon Brown scored four. Shaheem Britt and Marcus Barr scored two apiece. Waunya Shaw scored seven of his team-high 17 points as Buffalo East took a 17-12 lead after the first quarter. Justin Allen added 12, and Willard Anderson had 11 points for the Panthers.

GREECE ODYSSEY 62 GREECE ARCADIA 46 Jaden Hartsfield scored 12 of his game-high 23 points in the second quarter as Odyssey turned a five-point edge into a double-digit advantage going into halftime. Hartsfield connected twice behind the 3-point arc, and the Leopards doubled up Arcadia in the stanza for a 32-17 advantage going into the locker room. DJ Billings scored nine points. Andrew Bartlett scored seven of team-high 15 points in the first half to help the Red Raiders take a 29-20 lead into the break. Fairport led by two at 43-41 after three quarters. Shaker’s Seymour Sloan scored six of his game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter. Jake Cook added eight of his 14 points in the final stanza. Vanzell Johnson scored 12 points for Fairport(6-1).
