Byron-Bergen/Elba, McQuaid and Sutherland advance to state Final Four

Pittsford Sutherland 3 East-Aurora 1
Freshman Dylan Kladstrup scored once and senior John Mozrall added two tallies as Sutherland downed Section VI champion, East Aurora, to advance to the 2017 New York State Class A semi-finals. READ MORE. 

CLASS B
Lackawanna 2 World of Inquiry 1 OT
Nasir Mohamed netted the golden goal with :22 remaining in the first overtime to complete a come-from-behind victory for Lackawanna. With less than five minutes remaining in regulation, Lackawanna trailed when Abdallah Omar leveled the match with an assist from Jabreel Almontaser. Emmanuel Nsengiyumva gave World of Inquiry a 1-nil advantage with an assist from Ayub Jeylani in the 64th minute, but the Griffins could not hold on to lead. The Griffins (14-6-0) moved up a classification after winning the past three Section V C1 titles. WOI advanced to the state final four twice in the past three years. Lackawanna (19-2-0) will play Ichabod Crane (II/19-0-1) in Saturday’s semifinal.

CLASS C
Byron-Bergen/Elba 1 Allegany-Limestone 0
Sophomore Sam Pringle scored the game winner in the second half with an assist from Wade Thompson, and Byron-Bergen/Elba (19-1-1) move on to play Lake Placid (VII) in Saturday’s semifinal. The marker was Pringle’s ninth of the season for Byron-Bergen/Elba ranked No. 1 NYSSWA. Byron-Bergen reached the 2005 Class B state semis where the Bees eventually lost to Spackenkill (IX). Allegany-Limestone entered play No. 3 in the most recent poll.
