Alfred, NY – Five different Golden Flyers found the back of the net as Nazareth blanked Alfred State 5-0 Wednesday night in non-conference action. The offense scored three goals in the opening half, followed by two in the second.
Nazareth improves to 8-4-1 overall with the win, while the Pioneers fall to 2-8-1 on the season.
Freshman Matt Gasbarre played a part in both of Nazareth’s first two goals in the opening half. He began the scoring for the visitors in the 14th minute, cashing in his own rebound with a header into the net. Gasbarre now has a team-leading five goals in 2017.
Three minutes later, Gasbarre picked up an assist to Tristan Custer to establish a 2-0 lead.
Nazareth made it three goals scored in 10 minutes following Zach Titus putting home a corner kick from Josh Crespo in the 24th minute.
In the second half, Dan Serpe joined in on the action off Custer’s first collegiate assist with 53:54 showing on the clock.
Nazareth’s final goal came with five minutes remaining as Hari Vidadala scored his first of the year on a shot from the middle of the box. Freshman Zach Mullally earned an assist on the tally.
The Golden Flyers finished with a 13-6 edge in shots.
Brian Wilkin saw action in net for 83:34, making six saves in net. Josh McNutt did not see a shot in his 6:26 between the pipes.
Nazareth returns to action on Saturday, traveling to St. John Fisher for a pivotal Empire at matchup at 2 p.m.
