POTSDAM, NY- The RIT women’s soccer team (6-3-1, 0-2-1 Liberty League) lost on the road to Clarkson (5-2-3, 2-0-1 Liberty League) from Hantz Turf Field on Saturday afternoon.
Shots were 12-4 in favor of the Tigers. RIT took 10 corners opposed to none for Clarkson. Kelly Rogers (Ardmore, PA/Haverford) took the loss in net for RIT with two saves, Elyse Green got the win for Clarkson with eight saves.
Clarkson’s Madison Kather scored in the 85th minute off a pass from Camryn Careccia in the front of the box that found its way around Rogers to the back-left corner.
RIT had an ample amount of chances in the game that just could not be connected. In the 14th minute,Elena Wolfe (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) received a pass form Sami Alur (Fremont, CA/Irvington) for a shot across the box that drifted just wide. Marla Roberts (Penfield, NY/Home Schooled) hit the crossbar in the 36th minute, as the two teams went into halftime scoreless.
The Tigers had one of its best scoring changes of the game in the 73rd minute, Monique Polanco (Merrick, NY/John F. Kennedy) had a header from the top of the box, but was stopped by Green. Kather scored the winner moments later, sending RIT to its second consecutive defeat.
RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 22-7-2.
RIT returns to action Friday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. against St. Lawrence from Tiger Stadium.
