HENRIETTA, NY – Rochester found its scoring touch in a big way on Saturday with a 5-1 victory over RIT men’s soccer in the annual Community Shield Match.

Geoffrey Rouin scored three goals for the Yellowjackets. Bryce Ikeda scored one, and Alex DiPerna converted a penalty kick for UR (3-1-2). The RIT goal was scored by Anthony DeFeo midway through the second half. The Tigers are 2-3.

The Yellowjackets took full advantage of their goalscoring opportunities. Rochester had eight shots on goal, 14 overall. Peter Cinibulk made three saves in the RIT goal. Redd Brown made one save guarding Rochester’s net. The Tigers had nine shots, two on target.

Rouin drove home a free kick after 20 minutes for a 1-0 lead. Ikeda made it 2-0 in the 28th minute, converting on a service from Aleks Dombrowski from 10 yards out. UR left the pitch at halftime up, 2-0.

DiPerna increased the lead to 3-0 by converting a penalty kick six minutes into the second half. Rouin got his second of the afternoon in the 55th minute, heading home a floated pass from Mitch Volis.

RIT ruined the shutout bid when DeFeo scored on a deflection in the 61st minute. Rouin completed the scoring – and his hat trick – by chipping a loose ball over the goalkeeper with just over eight minutes left to play.
