ROCHESTER – Theoni Zerva had four goals and an assist to lead the MCC women’s soccer team to a 9-0 victory over Jackson College on sun-drenched John L. DiMarco Field Saturday.
The fourth-ranked Tribunes (5-1-0) have won three straight, outscoring their opponents 21-2 over that span. Monroe is in the Top 10 nationally for total goals and goals per game.
Zerva set up Monroe’s first goal, which came off the foot of Roosa Ariyo, 4:41 into the contest. The freshman midfielder broke into the goal column herself with a score in the 27th minute, and then scored three straight during a 13-minute, 40-second stretch spanning the first and second halves as the Tribunes took command.
Monroe finished with a 41-6 advantage in total shots, including a 24-2 edge in attempts on goal. The Jets had two opportunities late in the second half, but Tribune keeper Marykate Eckert was up to the task as she notched her first shutout of the season.
Ariyo added another goal and also contributed two assists. Bayley Kralik chipped in with two goals and Emma Moulton also scored. Kralik, Elin Eklund, Emma Krenzer, and Meghan Carroll all had assists.
