BUFFALO, NY – Despite outshooting their hosts 15-5, the University of Rochester men’s soccer team could not muster a goal and suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Buffalo State College on Tuesday evening at Coyer Field.

The loss is UR’s first on the year as the Yellowjackets move to 2-1-2 on the season while Buffalo State picks up its fourth win of the year and is now 4-1.

Buffalo State struck on its first shot attempt of the game, with Barak Benyehuda finding the back of the net off a pass from the left side from teammate Luke Pavone in the 16th minute.

Late in the opening half, UR had a flurry of chances, earning multiple corners and shot attempts over a five-minute span from the 35th to 40th minute.  UR’s Ryan Aspenleiter had a shot sail high, Aleks Dombrowski’s attempt was blocked and a JR Eisold blast was saved away by Buffalo State keeper Andreas Queen.

Overall on the night, Queen made five saves earning the shutout. In the UR goal, Redd Brown made two saves.

In the opening three minutes of the second half, UR’s Nate Leopold took a shot off a direct corner that was saved by Queen, only to see the rebound get sent out to Stefan Sarkovich whose follow up attempt missed wide.

Rochester returns to action on Saturday when the Yellowjackets tangle with crosstown rival RIT in Henrietta starting at 12 pm.
