Fredonia, NY – Nazareth scored two first half goals to hand previously undefeated Fredonia (4-0) its first loss of the season Tuesday night. With the third-straight road win, Nazareth is now riding its longest win streak since 2012, when it began the year with five straight wins.
The Golden Flyers are now 3-2 overall, while the Blue Devils drop to 4-1.
Freshman Josh Crespo netted his second goal in the three games 13 minutes in to give Nazareth momentum and a 1-0 advantage.
The Golden Flyers pressure paid off again in the 22nd minute as Mitchell Fors put home a header opportunity, his second goal in as many games. James Walsh picked up his first career assist on the goal.
Nazareth held the 2-0 lead at the break and maintained it throughout the second half.
The defense recorded its second-straight shutout behind six saves from sophomore goalie Brian Wilkin.
The visitors ended with a 14-11 edge in shots, while the Blue Devils took seven corner kicks compared to four for Nazareth.
Nazareth will look to keep its winning streak alive on Friday when it hosts Sage in the Empire 8 conference opener at 3 p.m.
