PGCBL Roundup: Blue Sox battle for win, Stallions win pitching battle and Red Wings protect the nest

MOHAWK VALLEY DIAMONDDAWGS (20-8) 4
LITTLE FALLS, NY– Sophomore Cole Pursell (Willamette University) drove in three runs on two hits for the Blue Sox, who denied the DiamondDawgs a fifth straight win. Freshman Louie Varland (Concordia University-St. Paul) struck out seven and allowed two runs on five hits and three walks in six-and-two-thirds innings for the Blue Sox. ONEONTA OUTLAWS (9-22) 8
ONEONTA, NY– Sophomore Mike Brown (Dartmouth University) had four hits and three RBI for the Outlaws, who have won just three of their last 10. Freshman Anthony Scalzo (Gonzaga University) knocked in two runs for the Flames.

SAUGERTIES STALLIONS (15-16) 4
SAUGERTIES, NY– Freshman Drew Farkas (University of Hartford) held the Dragons to three runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts, helping the Stallions hand Glens Falls an eighth loss in 10 games. Redshirt sophomore Robert Paccione (LIU Post) threw three innings with one hit given up and two strikeouts in relief for the Dragons.

ADIRONDACK TRAIL BLAZERS (10-20) 7
BOONVILLE, NY– Freshman Peter Battaglia (Niagara University) provided two hits, four runs scored and three RBI for the Pilots, who have won back-to-back games. Junior Hayden Rappoport (Dartmouth College) led the Trail Blazers with two RBI.

GENEVA RED WINGS (19-15) 7     in 14
GENEVA, NY– Incoming freshman Dominic Toso (Bucknell University) delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 14th, allowing the Red Wings to gain a game in the standings on the first place Jammers. Junior John Conti (Canisius College) produced three hits and two RBI for the Jammers.
