VanScoter and Dodgers stay hot; Perry, Silversmiths sweep and Crush retake the lead in the East

Sherrill Silversmiths (14-13) 3
Syracuse Spartans (16-12) 1
SYRACUSE — Austin Perry pitched five scoreless innings allowing three hits as the Silversmiths took game one of a doubleheader. The right-hander finished with three strikeouts to pick up the win. Tyler Hertzwig closed the game in the seventh to pick up his sixth save of the season. Justin Stromski went 2-for-3 including a home run. Lucas Gregory went five innings allowing two runs on four hits for the Spartans. The left-hander finished with four strikeouts.

Syracuse Spartans (16-12) 3
SYRACUSE — Steven Valentine went 2-for-3 with three RBI including a single in the fifth that drove in Nicholas Wydler as he Silversmiths take game two in a doubleheader. Justin Stromski finished with two hits including a run-scoring single in the third. Mitch Cavanagh went six innings allowing three runs on five hits. The right-hander fanned two to pick up his first win of the season. Chris Schad and Rocco Leone each finished with two apiece for the Spartans.

Olean Oilers (11-17) 9
Wellsville Nitros (12-13) 7
WELLSVILLE — Brett Migliore went 4-for-5 including two home runs for the Oilers. Kirby McMullen finished with two hits including a two-run home run in the fifth. Jacob Burlingame finished with two hits. Kyle Warner tossed six innings allowing six runs on thirteen hits. The left-hander finished with six strikeouts to pick up his second win of the season.

Syracuse Salt Cats (15-12) 1
Cortland Crush (15-11) 4
CORTLAND — Jesse Sustachek pitched a complete game allowing one run on six hits as the Crush retook the lead in the Eastern Division. The right-hander fanned five as he picked up his second win of the season. Joey Assenza went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Dylan Ott went 2-for-5 with an RBI, Joseph Rodgers finished with three hits as the Crush has won four of their last ten games. 

Rome Generals (12-12) 5
Hornell Dodgers (21-7) 15
HORNELL — Livonia native Reid VanScoter went six innings allowing one run on four hits as the Dodgers have won seven of their last ten games. The left-hander fanned ten to pick up his second win of the season. Michael Young went 4-for-4 which includes a home run in the first and a three-run home run in the eighth. Connor Bailey finished with two hits including a home run in the first.
