Brett paces Hornell; Assenza, Cortland walk off and Giordano helps Generals reach .500

WELLSVILLE — Carmine Giordano went 2-for-4 including a double in the fourth that plated Joseph Castellanos as the Generals moved up to .500. Travis Macrides plated two with a single in the seventh. Vincent Martin finished with three hits including a single that brought home Jameson Carey in the sixth. Matthew Ogozaly went three innings allowing four runs on nine hits. The left-hander finished with three strikeouts to pick up his second win of the season.

Cortland Crush (13-7) 7
CORTLAND — Joey Assenza delivered a walk-off, pinch-hit sacrifice fly in the tenth to give Cortland a two-game lead over Sherrill and the Syracuse Spartans in the Eastern Division. Dylan Ott went 2-for-5 including a game-tying single in the bottom of ninth that drove in Tyler Schmidt. Mitch Cavanagh went six and two-third innings allowing no runs on three hits with seven strikeouts.

Syracuse Salt Cats (11-10) 2
Hornell Dodgers (17-6) 9
HORNELL — Jack Brett highlighted a six-run fourth with a two-run single, and Hornell won for the seventh time in their last ten games. Connor Bailey finished with two hits including a solo home run in the bottom of the second. Mike Modeste also homered for the Dodgers. Matt Mulhearn tossed eight innings allowing two runs on five hits. The right-hander fanned seven to pick up his fifth win of the season.

Rochester Ridgemen (5-16) 6
ROCHESTER — Grant Myers went 2-for-3 with three RBI including a single in the sixth that plated two as the Rapids won for the third time in their last four games. Josh Hayner finished with three hits including a double in the ninth that plated Adam Marston. Justin Carey went 2-for-4 with three RBI including a double in the fifth that plated two. Sean Rooney and Christian Bitar each came away with two hits for the Ridgemen.
