HOUGHTON — Grant Myers, JP Knight, and Anthony Jefferson each had homers to spark the Genesee offense early as the Rapids held on to beat Wellsville. Jefferson went 2-for-5 including a one-out double in the seventh. Myers went 3-for-3 with two RBI including an RBI single in the bottom of the third. The Nitros scored eight runs on four hits in the top of the ninth, but it was too little, too late.
Hornell Dodgers (6-0) 13
Sherrill Silversmiths (3-2) 8
SHERRILL — Connor Bailey and Jack Kapturasky each had three hits on the night, as the Dodgers took down the Silversmiths to remain unbeaten. Bailey went 3-for-5 with five RBI including a two-run home run in the top of the first. Kapturasky went 3-for-6 including a three-run shot in the top of ninth. Andrew McCoy and Colin Johnson also recorded a home run.
Syracuse Spartans (1-4) 0
Cortland Crush (3-1) 1
CORTLAND — Will Ginsberg lasted six innings, allowed four hits and struck out two as the Crush defeated the Spartans. He retired seven straight to begin the game. Ginsberg picked up his second win of the season. Quantique White picked up his first save of the season. Dylan Ott went 1-for-3 including an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth as that was enough for the Crush.
Syracuse Salt Cats (3-3) 3
Rome Generals (4-2) 10
ROME — Cody Pasic went 3-for-4 including an RBI double to jump start their offense in the bottom of the third as the Generals cruised past the Salt Cats. Pasic also had two doubles on the night. Jacob Yish went 2-for-3 with two RBI including a single that drove in two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Colin Shunk tossed five innings, allowed three runs on four hits to earn the win.
Olean Oilers (2-4) 24
Rochester Ridgemen (0-5) 2
ROCHESTER — Chris Wastchak went 2-for-5 with six RBI as the Oilers crushed the Ridgemen. One of Wastchak’s hits was a grand-slam off Sean Rooney. Jacob Burlingame went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple and drove in four runs. Colin Benner lasted for six innings, allowed two runs on six hits to get his first win of the season.
