NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The St. Bonaventure baseball team entered the final weekend of the regular season already knowing it would be heading to the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Now, the Bonnies know exactly when and who they will be playing.
St. Bonaventure, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, will take on No. 6 Davidson in the tournament’s first game on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. CST / 11 a.m. EST. The seven-team tournament will be hosted by Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Mo.
The Bonnies are making their first baseball championship appearance since 2008 after finishing the regular season at 26-20 overall with a 15-8 record in conference play. The third place finish is the best regular season result for the Bonnies since 2006.
The winner of Wednesday’s game will advance to play the winner of No. 2 Rhode Island vs. No. 7 George Mason on Thursday morning again at 10 a.m. CST / 11 a.m. EST.
There will be four games on Wednesday and Thursday in double-elimination tournament, including at least one consolation bracket elimination game each day. Friday’s semifinal day has three games, two of which are elimination games. The championship final will be played Saturday at noon on ASN. The if necessary game will take place immediately after the first final, if needed.
All St. Bonaventure games will be carried live on the radio locally on 107.1 FM and 1450 AM.
