Brett Gardner, Didi Gregorius and Chase Headley each contributed with two RBI. “The Bombers” collectively racked up 16 hits. Salvador Perez had a 2-run home run for the Royals (16-23). Michael Pineda picked up the win; giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits over six innings pitched. Jason Vargas, who came into the game with the lowest ERA in the MLB, allowed six runs on seven hits over four innings. Dellin Betances came on to throw just three pitches to pick up the save after Kansas City scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to make things interesting.

PHOENIX, AZ – Chris Herrmann hit the game-winning home run in the bottom of the 11th to help the Diamondbacks (24-18) sweep the Mets (16-23). Herrmann finished with a team-high two hits, and Jake Lamb contributed with a 2-run bomb. Jose Reyes compiled three hits for New York. Tom Wilhelmsen picked up the win in one inning out of the bullpen.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Yasmani Grandal drove in two runs off a double in the first inning, and the Dodgers (23-18) never looked back and avoided a sweep at the hands of the Giants (17-25). Corey Seager, Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger each had two hits apiece. Yasiel Puig chipped in two RBI. Clayton Kershaw tossed seven shutout innings of 3-hit ball, and struck out five batters for the win. Johnny Cueto gave up five runs in six innings for the loss.

CLEVELAND, OH – Corey Dickerson paced the Rays (21-22) with two hits including a 2-run blast to help them take the rubber game of the series. Dickerson finished with three RBI. Tim Beckham added three hits and an RBI. Jesus Sucre compiled two hits including a 2-run bomb. Alex Cobb allowed three runs on six hits in seven innings thrown while striking out seven for the victory. Josh Tomlin lasted just 2.1 innings, as he allowed six runs on seven hits in a losing effort for the Indians (20-19).

MIAMI, FL – Jose Altuve led the Astros (29-12) to their 15th win in 19 games with four hits and an RBI. George Springer provided two hits and two RBI. Lance McCullers tossed six innings of shutout ball, giving up just three hits. Ken Giles picked up the save. Miami falls to 14-25.

PITTSBURGH, PA – Josh Bell broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning with a 3-run shot to right field to help the Pirates (17-23) pick up the victory. Andrew McCutchen added two hits and two RBI. Gerrit Cole allowed one run to cross the plate on three hits while striking out three batters in seven innings pitched to pick up the victory. Washington falls to 25-14.

DETROIT, MI – Tyler Collins smacked two of his three hits for home runs and compiled four RBI to help the Tigers (19-19) even up the series at 1-1. Ian Kinsler added two hits and an RBI. Wellington Castillo went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Orioles (23-15). Michael Fulmer gave up four runs (three earned) on 10 hits over seven innings tossed to earn the victory. Ubaldo Jimenez allowed five runs on eight hits over five innings for the loss.

ATLANTA, GA – Kurt Suzuki capped a 6-run first with a 3-run blast to help the Braves (16-21) stay in control for the entire game. Suzuki finished 2-for-3. Jose Bautista went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Jays (17-24). Mike Foltynewicz threw six innings to pick up the win; giving up three runs on six hits. Joe Biagini gave up six runs (five earned) over four innings in the losing effort.

ARLINGTON, TX – Jared Hoying and Delino DeShields paced the Rangers (21-20) at the bottom of the lineup, as they both went 4-for-4. Hoying drilled a 2-run bomb and crossed home plate three different times. At the leadoff spot, Shin-Soo Choo collected three hits and three RBI. Michael Saunders had two hits and two RBI for the Phillies (14-23). Andrew Cashner gave up two runs on eight hits over seven innings for the win. Zach Elfin got shelled, as he gave up seven runs on 11 hits in just four innings on the mound.

CHICAGO, IL – Kyle Schwarber and Anthony Rizzo drove in two runs apiece to lead the Cubs (20-19). Ben Zobrist collected two hits. Zack Cozart went 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Reds (19-20). Jesse Hahn gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits over five innings in the losing effort for the A’s (17-23).

Corey Knebel picked up the save. Matt Garza gave Milwaukee some length, as he gave up one run on four hits over six innings of work. Jhoulys Chacin allowed one run on just two hits over seven innings tossed for the Padres (15-27). Chacin also punched out eight batters.

ANAHEIM, CA – Mike Trout smacked a 3-run shot to help the Angels (22-21) take the victory. Trout has homered in five of his last six games. Martin Maldonado compiled two hits and three RBI. Cameron Maybin had a game-high three hits. Avisail Garica went 3-for-5 with two RBI for the White Sox (17-21). Matt Shoemaker gave up four runs (three earned) on nine hits over 6.1 innings tossed for the win. Shoemaker also struck out nine batters. Miguel Gonzalez picked up the loss; giving up five runs on five hits over 5.2 innings.
