PITTSBURGH, PA– Jason Heyward homered and drove in four runs while Addison Russell had a career-high four hits in the Cubs’ dominating win. Brett Anderson allowed only three runs (one earned) in six innings for Chicago but had trouble locating his pitches as he walked six batters. Jose Osuna had his first career multi-hit game going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Chad Kuhl was knocked out of the game after just one and two-thirds innings, getting tagged for nine runs on eight hits and four walks.

MILWAUKEE, WI– Eric Thames raised his league-leading home run total to ten after homering twice in the Brewers’ series opening win over the Reds. Matt Garza made his first start of the season for Milwaukee going four innings while giving up four runs (one earned) and four hits with four strikeouts. Leading Cincinnati at the plate was Scott Schebler who went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI. Amir Garrett struggled on the mound, giving up ten runs (nine earned) on eight hits and four walks in just three and one third innings.

ARLINGTON, TX– Brian Dozier provided all of the offense for the Twins, hitting a bases-clearing double in the fifth inning, to end the Rangers’ four-game winning streak. Minnesota’s starter, Phil Hughes, continued his hot start on the road going six innings and surrendering just two runs on six hits. Mike Napoli went 2-for-3 while scoring both of the Rangers’ only runs of the game. Martin Perez threw six innings with three earned runs, six hits and three walks allowed.

CHICAGO, IL– Matt Davidson had one of the best games of his career thus far going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in the White Sox win over the Royals. On the hill, Miguel Gonzalez had a stellar pitching performance lasting eight innings allowing just one unearned run on two hits. Whit Merrifield scored Kansas City’s lone run after reaching on an error. Coming into the game as the MLB’s ERA leader, Jason Vargas‘s ERA rose from 0.44 to 1.40 as he allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits in five innings.

BALTIMORE, MD– The Orioles used the long ball to earn their fifth win in seven games as Adam Jones, Hyun Soo Kim and Jonathan Schoop all went deep. Ubaldo Jimenez struggled to go deep into the game on the mound for Baltimore though, going just three and one third innings allowing three earned runs on three hits and five walks. Tampa Bay’s Corey Dickerson finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a home run. Chris Archer had a rough day on the mound allowing his first three home runs of the season, giving up five total runs and five walks in six and two-thirds innings.

DENVER, CO– Charlie Blackmon hit a go-ahead two-run home run late in the game to propel the Rockies to victory. Tyler Anderson pitched well up until the sixth when the Nationals chased him out of the game with a four-run inning. He finished with a pitching line of five and two-thirds innings, six hits, four earned runs and five strikeouts. Anthony Rendon went 3-for-4 with one RBI for Washington. On the mound, Jacob Turner went six innings, giving up three runs to go along with six strikeouts.

PHOENIX, AZ– David Peralta went 3-for-4 with a home run, and Chris Owings hit his first career grand slam in the Diamondbacks’ win over the Padres. Zack Greinke pitched like the ace that Arizona paid him to be a year ago going six innings and surrendering just one run on six hits while striking out eleven. Yangervis Solarte finished with a team high three hits for the Padres. Jhoulys Chacin let up seven runs on eight hits in six innings as he was credited with the loss.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA– Joe Panik and Hunter Pence each had an RBI to help the Giants end their four-game losing streak. Matt Cain pitched a beauty going six innings while allowing just two hits and no runs before leaving the game with an injury. Hyun-Jin Ryu matched his counterpart on the mound with six innings pitched but also allowed an earned run on five hits.

ANAHEIM, CA– Cameron Maybin scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning to lead the Angels over the Blue Jays. Jesse Chavez overcame a loss to Toronto on Friday, putting together a one run, four hit and seven strikeout performance in six innings. Russell Martin added the Blue Jays’ only run of the game on a fourth inning solo shot. Francisco Liriano was dealt the loss after going five and one-third innings with two earned runs on five hits and four walks.
