DETROIT, MI– Miguel Sano hit a three-run home run during a five-run sixth inning as the Twins salvaged the third game of the series against the Tigers. Phil Hughes went five-and-two-thirds innings for the Twins, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks. Jose Iglesias provided the Tigers two RBI on three hits in four at bats. Jordan Zimmerman gave up five runs on four hits and five walks in four-and-two-thirds for the Tigers.

BOSTON, MA– Hanley Ramirez doubled and Xander Bogaerts singled to drive in three in the eighth inning, helping the Red Sox comeback and beat the Pirates. Eduardo Rodriguez got the start for the Red Sox, going five-and-one third innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks, striking out eight. Andrew McCutchen provided two runs for the Pirates with a home run in the first inning. On the mound for the Pirates was Chad Kuhl, who threw six-and-one-third innings while giving up one run and five hits.

CHICAGO, IL– Anthony Rizzo sparked the offense with a solo home run in the first inning, one of two hits he would have as the Cubs shutout the Dodgers. Brett Anderson threw five shutout innings for the Cubs, only allowing three hits and walking four. Hyun-Jin Ryu started for the Dodgers, letting up four runs, six hits and two walks in four-and-two-thirds innings.

ANAHEIM, CA– Robinson Chirinos drove in three runs on two hits and scored twice as the Rangers beat the Angels 8-3 for the second straight game. Yu Darvish held the Angels scoreless with five hits and two walks over seven innings of work, striking out ten over the course of the game. All of three of the Angels runs came from Danny Espinosa‘s home run in the bottom of the ninth. Ricky Nolasco gave up five runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts, pitching five innings.

CLEVELAND, OH– Avisail Garcia drove in three runs on three hits and Matt Davidson hit a three-run home run in the first inning to help the White Sox blowout the Indians. The White Sox’ starter, Miguel Gonzalez, went four-and-two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and four walks. Jose Ramirez finished the game 3-for-4 with one RBI for the Indians. Josh Tomlin was knocked out of the game after one-and-two-thirds innings, having let up seven runs on eight hits and one walk.

TORONTO, ON– Jonathan Schoop picked up a pair of doubles and one RBI in the Orioles series opening win over the Blue Jays. Kevin Gausman pitched six innings on one run, five hit and two walk ball for the Orioles. The Blue Jays’ run came off a Josh Donaldson double in the sixth inning. Francisco Liriano made it six-and-two-thirds on the mound for the Blue Jays, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks, but struck out 10.

CINCINNATI, OH– Ryan Braun contributed a two-run home run to a four-run third inning in the Brewers win over the Reds. Jimmy Nelson put together a one run, five hit and five strikeout performance in seven innings for the Brewers. Bronson Arroyo ate up six innings for the Reds, being credited with five runs and seven hits allowed.

KANSAS CITY, MO– Lorenzo Cain drove in one run on two hits and drew a walk in the Royals win over the A’s. Jason Vargas picked up seven-and-two-thirds innings of scoreless work, keeping the A’s to four hits and one walk, while striking out eight. Rajai Davis broke up the shutout in the ninth with a solo home run. Jesse Hahn threw six innings for the A’s, being tagged with three runs on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.

NEW YORK, NY– Aaron Hicks hit two home runs to drive in all three runs in the Yankees’ series sweeping win over the Rays. Luis Severino struck out 11 in seven innings for the Yankees, having given up two runs on five hits and one walk. Peter Bourjos, who replaced an injured Mallex Smith, chipped in for one run for the Rays on a solo home run in the fifth. Matt Andriese threw six innings and allowed one run on five hits and three walks for the Rays.

MIAMI, FL– Travis d’Arnaud hit a solo home run to break the extra inning tie, cap off a 4-for-6, four RBI day, and help the Mets defeat the Marlins. Robert Gsellman started for the Mets, going four-and-two-third innings and giving up eight runs on five hits and three walks. Marcel Ozuna drove in four runs for the Marlins, courtesy of a grand slam in the bottom of the first. Wei-Yin Chen lasted three innings on the mound for the Marlins, letting up six runs on seven hits.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA– Trevor Story smacked a two-run home run in the fourth inning, giving the Rockies the lead and eventually the win over the Giants. Jon Gray made the start for the Rockies, allowing only one hit and walking two before leaving the game with a foot injury after three innings. Madison Bumgarner took the mound for the Giants, tossing six innings with three runs allowed on six hits and one walk, while striking out eight.
