DETROIT, MI– James McCann hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to give the Tigers the lead, which held for the win over the Twins. Matt Boyd threw six scoreless innings for the Tigers, allowing one hit, walking two and striking out six. Jason Castro went 2-for-4 and drove in the Twins only run of the game. Hector Santiago started for the Twins, going six-and-one-third innings and surrendering two runs on three hits and one walk.

CLEVELAND, OH– Michael Brantley drove home Francisco Lindor in the 10th inning to give the Indians the walk-off win in the home opener. Carlos Carrasco gave the Indians seven innings with one run allowed on four hits and seven strikeouts. Todd Frazier went 2-for-4 with a solo home run for the White Sox. White Sox starter James Shields went five-and-one-third innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks with six strikeouts.

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Daniel Murphy picked up four hits in five at bats for the Nationals. driving in five runs in the win over the Cardinals. Gio Gonzalez allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and struck out six over seven innings of work. Randal Grichuk and Aledmys Diaz both hit a home run for the Cardinals. Lance Lynn had the hill to start for the Cardinals, going five innings and letting up six runs (four earned) on five hits and four walks, while striking out four.

PHILADELPHIA, PA– Yoenis Cespedes went 4-for-6 with three home runs and five RBI as the Mets scored in all but one inning to beat the Phillies. Matt Harvey gave the Mets five-and-two-thirds innings, being credited with two runs, five hits and one walk allowed, but struck out six. Maikel Franco contributed a home run and two RBI for the Phillies. Clay Buchholz struggled in his start for the Phillips, giving up six runs on eight hits and one walk in two-and-one-third innings.

PITTSBURGH, PA–Scooter Gennett‘s three-run home run in the eighth inning helped keep the lead out of reach for the Reds in the win over the Pirates. Rookie Davis started for the Reds, going four innings of one run ball with two hits and four walks to his credit. Jameson Taillon let up two runs in four hits and one walk, striking out four in four innings pitched for the Pirates.

TORONTO, ON– Keon Broxton homered in the first inning, sparking the Brewers offense and leading to a win over the Blue Jays. Wily Peralta went six innings for the Brewers, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks, but picked up four strikeouts. Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-3 and drove in all three Blue Jays’ runs. J.A. Happ lasted four-and-two-thirds innings for the Blue Jays, surrendering four runs on nine hits and striking out eight over the course of the start.

BOSTON, MA– Christian Vasquez went 4-for-4 and Dustin Pedroia drove in four runs for the Red Sox in a blowout win over the Orioles. Drew Pomeranz made the start for the Red Sox, letting up just one run, four hits and one walk over six innings, adding six strikeouts. Dylan Bundy gave the Orioles six-and-one-third innings, being credited with three runs, seven hits and two walks allowed, along with three strikeouts.

DENVER, CO– Nolan Arenado was one of three Rockies to homer in the game, hitting his in the seventh inning to put the Rockies up by one, the eventual final, against the Padres. Antonio Senzatela started for the Rockies and let up two runs, five hits and one walk in seven innings. Manuel Margot went 2-for-4 with a home run and one RBI for the Padres. Jered Weaver provided the Padres with six innings of two run, three hit ball, striking out five.

ANAHEIM, CA– The Angels beat the Rangers on a suicide squeeze bunt play in the 10th inning by Carlos Perez. Tyler Skaggs allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks over his five innings. Jonathan Lucroy finished the game with three hits and three RBI for the Rangers. Cole Hamels gave up four hits and walked four, leading to one run scored in seven innings of work.

SEATTLE, WA– Evan Gattis unloaded the bases in the sixth inning with a bases loaded double to right field, adding three runs to the Astros’ effort against the Mariners. Joe Musgrove tossed five-and-one-third innings for the Astros, giving up three runs, seven hits and one walk. Robinson Cano drove in a pair of runs for the Mariners.
