LOS ANGELES, CA– Yasiel Puig homered for the second straight day, hitting two dingers and driving in four RBI to lead the Dodgers over the Padres.Brandon McCarthy picked up the win for the Dodgers after throwing six innings of two-run ball.The Padres two runs came on a two-run home run by Wil Myers in the sixth inning. Jared Weaver struggled in his first start since leaving the Los Angeles Angels this past offseason, giving up four runs in five innings.

CINCINNATI, OH– Relief pitcher Michael Lorenzen connected on a pinch hit home run to propel the Reds over the Phillies in the rubber game of the series. The Reds did not have a single pinch hit home run in the 2016 season. Adam Duvall and Zack Cozart each drove in a pair of RBI for the Reds. Cody Reed got the win for the Reds after throwing two scoreless innings, despite walking four batters.Daniel Nava plated three of the Phillies four runs with two home runs. Clay Buchholz debuted for his new team, the Phillies, allowing four runs and seven hits over five innings.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN– Jorge Polanco drove in two runs on two hits, including an RBI double, as the Twins completed the series sweep. Craig Breslow, Ryan Pressly, Taylor Rogers, Matt Belisle and Brandon Kintzler combined to hold the Royals scoreless over the last four innings. The Royals picked up two runs off solo home runs from Salvador Perez and Mike Moustakas. Jason Hammel, a member of the Chicago Cubs last season, pitched five innings for the Royals, allowing three runs, six hits and walking four.

MILWAUKEE, WI– Nolan Arenado connected on the game winner with a solo shot in the top of the ninth. Antonio Senzatela went five scoreless innings for the Rockies in his MLB debut, striking out six. Kirk Nieuwenhuis delivered the lone Brewers run with a solo job of his own in the seventh inning. Chase Anderson gave the Brewers six innings, surrendering one run on three hits and two walks.

ST. LOUIS, MO– Kyle Schwarber put the Cubs in the lead for good over the Cardinals with a three-run home run in the seventh inning. John Lackey picked up the win allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over six innings. Yadier Molina drove in a pair of runs for the Cardinals on a sacrifice groundout and sacrifice fly. Lance Lynn made his first start since having Tommy John surgery in 2015, going five-and-one-third innings and letting up two runs on five hits and one walk.

CHICAGO, IL– Geovany Soto and Matt Davidson combined to go 4-for-6 with seven RBI and three home runs to fuel the White Sox’ win over the Tigers. James Shields held the Tigers to one run and two hits in five-and-one-third innings. Matthew Boyd was knocked out after two-and-one-third innings in his season debut for the Tigers, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks.

OAKLAND, CA– Ryon Healy hit a two-run home run during a four run third inning, helping the A’s defeat the Angels. Andrew Triggs earned the win for A’s after pitching five-and-two-third innings and only giving up one run. Tyler Skaggs let up five runs over five-and-one-third innings for the Angels in the loss.

WASHINGTON, DC– J.T. Realmuto, who drove in three runs earlier in the game, scored the eventual game-winning run on a Justin Bour double in the tenth inning. Tom Koehler gave the Marlins five strong innings on the mound, allowing one run and five hits. Adam Eaton, Jayson Werth and Ryan Zimmerman each hit a home run for the Nationals. Gio Gonzalez kept the Marlins scoreless and limited them to seven hits in his six innings pitched.

NEW YORK, NY– Wilmer Flores and Travis d’Arnaud each picked up two RBI for the Mets. Matt Harvey provided the Mets with six-and-two-thirds innings, surrendering two runs on three hits. Both of the Braves runs came on home runs by Matt Kemp. Jaime Garcia went six innings and gave up four runs on six hits and two walks for the Braves.

TAMPA BAY, FL– Kendrys Morales ignited the Blue Jays offense with a third inning grand slam. Marcus Stroman limited the Rays to one run over six-and-one-third innings. Steven Souza Jr. went 3-for-4 with two doubles for the Rays. Blake Snell lacked control in his start for the Rays, walking five and allowing five runs in nearly seven innings of work.

HOUSTON, TX– Jarrod Dyson and Jean Segura gave the Mariners the lead in the top of the ninth with a pair of RBI singles. Ariel Miranda started for the Mariners, throwing five innings and letting up two runs on five hits and three walks. Joe Musgrove matched Miranda with five innings for the Astros, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks.The Astros scored with home runs by George Springer and Marwin Gonzalez.

PHOENIX, AZ– Jake Lamb was one of three Diamondbacks to homer, hitting a three-run shot in the sixth inning. Robbie Ray took the mound for the Diamondbacks and tossed five-and-two-thirds innings, being credited with three runs on three hits and three walks, striking out six.Buster Posey hit a pair of doubles and drove in one RBI for the Giants. Jeff Samardzija gave up six runs on eight hits and two walks, while striking out nine for the Giants.
