GREENVILLE, SC– Kennedy Meeks picked up a double-double for North Carolina (29-7) with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Tar Heels finished the game on a 12-0 run. Daryl Macon gave Arkansas (26-10) 19 points and three assists. The Tar Heels will take on the Butler Bulldogs in the Sweet Sixteen.
No. 2 KENTUCKY 65 No. 10 WICHITA STATE 62
INDIANAPOLIS, IN– Bam Adebayo topped Kentucky (31-5) with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Landry Shamet led Wichita State (31-5) with 20 points, adding a pair of rebounds and a pair of assists. The game marked the second ever in the first weekend of the tournament that two teams with 30 wins played each other. The Wildcats will now play UCLA in the next round.
No. 3 UCLA 79 No. 6 CINCINNATI 67
SACRAMENTO, CA– One of the five starters that scored in double-digits, Lonzo Ball provided 18 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for UCLA (31-4). Gary Clark collected 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Cincinnati (30-6). The Bruins will now look to defeat Kentucky in the Sweet Sixteen.
MIDWEST REGION:
No. 1 KANSAS 90 No. 9 MICHIGAN STATE 70
TULSA, OK– Josh Jackson‘s 23 points and Landen Lucas‘s double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) combined to lead Kansas (30-4). Jackson had 14 of his 23 in the second half. Miles Bridges put up 22 points and eight rebounds for Michigan State (20-15). The Jayhawks will face Purdue in the Sweet Sixteen.
No. 7 MICHIGAN 73 No. 2 LOUISVILLE 69
INDIANAPOLIS, IN– Moritz Wagner dropped 26 points and three rebounds for Michigan (26-11). Donovan Mitchell scored 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out five assists for Louisville (25-9). The Wolverines move on to play Oregon.
No. 3 OREGON 75 No. 11 RHODE ISLAND 72
SACRAMENTO, CA– Tyler Dorsey netted 27 points and hauled in five rebounds for Oregon (31-5). Dorsey hit the game-winning three with 38.4 seconds left in the second half. Stanford Robinson came off the bench to score 21 points for Rhode Island (25-10). The Ducks are set to take on Michigan in the next round.
EAST REGION:
No. 7 SOUTH CAROLINA 88 No. 2 DUKE 81
GREENVILLE, SC– Sindarius Thornwell (24 points, six rebounds and five assists) and Chris Silva (17 points, 10 rebounds) helped South Carolina (24-10) get the win. The Gamecocks scored 65 points in the second half. Grayson Allen had 20 points off the bench and Amile Jefferson posted a double-double (14 points, 15 rebounds) for Duke (28-9). The Gamecocks draw Baylor for their Sweet Sixteen match-up.
No. 3 BAYLOR 82 No. 11 USC 78
TULSA, OK– Johnathan Motley‘s double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds) led Baylor (27-7) in the win. Chimezie Metu had 28 points and five rebounds for USC (26-10). The Bears will take on South Carolina in the next round.
