KSU, The Mount move on in NCAA tourney

SOUTH REGION:

No. 11 KANSAS STATE 95 No. 11 WAKE FOREST 88

Kamau Stokes scored six points on a pair of threes during a 12-5 run for Kansas State, extending the Wildcats advantage and leading to the win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Wildcats will take on Cincinnati in the round of 64.

Wesley Iwundu topped the Wildcats with 24 points, seven assists and six rebounds. John Collins (26 points, nine rebounds) and Bryant Crawford (20 points, 10 rebounds) propelled the Demon Deacons.

The Demon Deacons, who have struggled on field goal defense this season being 250th in the nation (45.2 percent against), were unable to stop the Wildcats, who finished 31-47 (66 percent) from the field.

The Wildcats moved to 21-13 and the Demon Deacons dropped to 19-14.

EAST REGION:

No. 16 MOUNT ST. MARY’S 67 No. 16 NEW ORLEANS 66

Junior Robinson knocked down a jumper with 1:28 left in the second half, giving Mount St. Mary’s the lead over the New Orleans Privateers for good and sending the Mountaineers to the round of 64 to take on top-seeded Villanova.

Robinson’s 23 points and Miles Wilson‘s double-double (17 points, 11 rebounds) combined to lead the Mountaineers. Nate Frye contributed 18 points and three rebounds off the bench for the Privateers.

The Mountaineers, traditionally not the strong three-point shooting team in the country at 143rd (35.7 percent), finished the game 10-19 (52.6 percent) from beyond the arc.

The Mountaineers are now 20-15 and the Privateers fell to 20-12.

OTHER:

NIT ROUND ONE- No. 6-ssed GEORGIA TECH 75 No. 3-seed INDIANA 63

Thomas Bryant (Bishop Kearney) scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Indiana.
