Gerald Drumgoole recorded a double-double and led three in double figures as the Irondequoit Eagles advanced to the New York state Class A final four with a convincing 65-41 victory over North Tonawanda in the Far West Regional played at Genesee Community College on Saturday.
Drumgoole converted 12 of 13 free throws and finished with a game-high 21 points. The sophomore also hauled in a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Eagles converted 20 offensive rebounds into a 23-8 advantage in second-chance points. Irondequoit forced 24 North Tonawanda turnovers and had a 31-7 advantage in points off miscues.
Irondequoit’s Alex Goldsberry scored 18 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Zach Stenglein scored 15.
Trevor Book paced North Tonawanda with 11 points.
Irondequoit led 15-7 after the first and 32-16 at halftime before pulling away in the third outscoring North Tonawanda, 20-9 in the stanza.
Irondequoit (23-1) will play Jamesville-Dewitt (III/21-3), Saturday 9 am at Floyd Maines Arena in Binghamton.
