SANBORN, New York – Jamestown Community College pulled away for an 81-75 win over MCC in the quarterfinals of the Region III, Division II men’s basketball tournament Friday evening.
The Jayhawks outscored the Tribunes 49-38 over the final 20 minutes to advance to Saturday’s semifinals. MCC finishes the season with a record of 16-11.
Monroe led 37-32 at the half before Jamestown embarked on a 12-3 run to open the second half and take the lead. The teams then battled back and forth before a dunk by MCC’s Malik Colvin-Seldon tied the game at 63 with 5:06 remaining.
The Jayhawks then responded by scoring the next eight to take command. A pair of buckets by Colvin-Seldon and a 3 from Holden Redparth helped the Tribunes close to within three late, but Jamestown his six straight free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Redparth finished with 21 to pace Monroe. Colvin-Seldon tallied 14 points while Devonte Dixon scored 13. Kewan Platt and Omar Williams added 10 apiece.
