PHILADELPHIA – Former Richmond Spider Justin Harper has earned another shot in the NBA, signing a 10-day contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Last season, Harper signed two 10-day contracts with the Detroit Pistons, scoring 13 points in five games played.
A Richmond native, Harper has played the last two seasons with the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the NBA Development League, earning consecutive nods to the league’s All-Star game. This season, he has averaged 16.2 points with 7.0 rebounds per game, shooting 49.1 percent from the field.
Harper was drafted in the second round in 2011 and played 14 games for the Orlando Magic in 2011-12 in the strike-shortened season.
A veteran of two NBA seasons and three D-League campaigns, Harper has also played internationally in Italy, Israel and France.
An All-Atlantic 10 First Team honoree in his senior season at Richmond, Harper ranks 15th all-time at Richmond with 1,457 career points, including 661 in his senior season. He still ranks eighth all-time in career threes made.
