NBA Roundup: Howard’s homecoming and Dubs dominance of Clips continues

Rundown of Thursday’s NBA action. 

ATLANTA HAWKS 113 HOUSTON ROCKETS 108
HOUSTON – Dwight Howard received a mix of boos and cheers in his return to Houston, and went on to drop 24 points and grab 23 rebounds to lead the Hawks (29-21) to the victory. Howard spent the last three years as a member of the Houston Rockets before signing with his hometown team last offseason.

Atlanta trailed by as many as 20 points, and came into the fourth quarter down by 13 points.

Tim Hardaway went off for a career-high 33 points on 12-of-18 shooting. Mike Muscala (Bucknell) had nine points and eight rebounds off the bench.

James Harden netted 41 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and four steals for the Rockets (36-17). Clint Capela scored 22 points and hauled in nine rebounds.

WASHINGTON WIZARDS 116 LOS ANGELES LAKERS 108
WASHINGTON – John Wall paced the Wizards (29-20) to their 16th straight home victory with 33 points and 11 assists. Marcin Gortat added 21 points and 14 rebounds. Bradley Beal contributed 23 points. D’Angelo Russell had 17 points and 11 assists for the Lakers (17-35). Jordan Clarkson dropped 20 points.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS 102 PHILADELPHIA 76ers 86
SAN ANTONIO – Kawhi Leonard compiled 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Spurs (38-11). Dewayne Dedmon had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Ersan Ilyasova scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Sixers (18-31).

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS 133 LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 120
LOS ANGELES – Stephen Curry led the Warriors (43-7) to their ninth straight defeat of the Clippers with 29 points and 11 assists. Kevin Durant provided 26 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. Klay Thompson had 21 points and seven rebounds. Blake Griffin put in a game-high 31 points to go along with eight rebounds and three steals for the Clippers (31-19).
