CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Boston University swept this week’s Patriot League Men’s Basketball The Rock weekly honors, as senior guard Eric Fanning earned The Rock Player of the Week and freshman Tyler Scanlon was named The Rock Rookie of the Week. For Fanning this is the first weekly honor during his three seasons at Boston University. Scanlon earns his second rookie of the week honor, having been selected on November 21.
Fanning scored a season-high 32 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the Terriers’ 90-89 overtime victory over Army West Point last Wednesday. The senior guard scored eight of his team’s 13 points in overtime. Scanlon scored 17 points, while hitting 4-of-6 from distance to help Boston University halt a three-game losing streak. The Terriers played just one game last week, as they prepare to play Lehigh tonight on CBS Sports Network at 7 p.m.
Loyola Maryland junior forward Cam Gregory averaged a double-double during a 2-0 week for the Greyhounds. He had career-high with 21 points and 14 rebounds to earn honorable mention for the first time this season. Bucknell sophomore guard Kimbal Mackenzie also earned honorable mention leading the team with 18.5 points per game during a 2-0 week to keep the Bison atop the Patriot League standings.
Holy Cross senior forward Malachi Alexander averaged 15.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 steals during a 1-2 week for the Crusaders, while Lehigh senior center/forward Tim Kempton also earned honorable mention after posting his 12th double-double of the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Colgate last Wednesday.

Eric Fanning, Boston University, Sr., G, 6-5, Trenton, N.Y./Perkiomen (Pa.)
Fanning scored a season-high 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting and finished with nine rebounds, one shy of his fourth double-double of the season, to help Boston University overcome Army West Point, 90-89 in overtime, halting a three-game losing streak. He scored eight of the Terriers’ 13 points in the overtime period. His 11 field goals was a career-high, while also going 8-for-9 from the free throw line.
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S BASKETBALL THE ROCK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK,
Tyler Scanlon, Boston University, Fr., F, 6-7, Chantilly, Va./Westfield
Scanlon scored 17 points, shooting 6-of-8 from the floor and 4-of-6 from 3-point range, while pulling down five rebounds to help Boston University defeat Army West Point, 90-89 in overtime on Wednesday evening. The 17 points is a career-high for Scanlon, who helped the Terriers stop a three-game losing streak. His 3-pointer with 3:21 remaining in overtime gave BU a lead they were able to hold the rest of the way.
WEEKLY HONORABLE MENTION
Cam Gregory, Loyola Maryland, Jr., F, 6-8, Waldorf, Md./St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School
Gregory averaged a double-double with 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds during a 2-0 week for Loyola Maryland. On Saturday, Gregory had career-highs with 21 points and 14 rebounds to help the Greyhounds avenge an earlier loss to Lafayette. Gregory shot 9-of-11 from the floor and also had two blocks in the win. He scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds in a 65-62 win over Holy Cross on Wednesday.
Kimbal Mackenzie, Bucknell, So., G, 6-1, Oakville, Ontario/John Carroll (Md.)
Mackenzie averaged 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals, while shooting 65 percent (13-of-20) from the floor and 60 percent (6-of-10) from beyond the arc in a 2-0 week for Bucknell. Mackenzie led Bucknell with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while grabbing four rebounds and two steals in a 96-75 win over Army on Saturday. He was also the team’s leading scorer with 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting (3-of-5 from 3-point range) in a 78-55 win over Lafayette on Wednesday.
Malachi Alexander, Holy Cross, Sr., F, 6-7, Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt
Alexander averaged 15.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 2.0 assists as Holy Cross went 1-2 during a three-game week. On Monday, Alexander led the Crusaders with 15 points, seven rebounds and five steals in a 63-55 win over American. Alexander paced Holy Cross with 20 points, three rebounds and three steals in a 65-62 loss to Loyola Maryland on Wednesday, before finished with 11 points, five rebounds three assists and three steals in a loss to Navy on Saturday.
Tim Kempton, Lehigh, Sr., C/F, 6-10, Scottsdale, Ariz./Brophy College Prep
Kempton posted his 12th double-double of the season and 45th of his career with a 23-point, 10-rebound performance in Lehigh’s 76-62 win over Colgate last Wednesday. Kempton shot 9-of-14 from the floor, including a perfect 2-for-2 from deep, to go with three blocks and two steals. Kempton leads the League with 21.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.
