William Green Jr. paced a balanced inside-outside attack as the Greece Olympia Spartans grabbed command early and cruised to a 71-55 victory over the Greece Odyssey Leopards.
Green and Jeffrey Jung Jr. combined to score 20 first-half points as the Spartans took a 39-26 advantage at half of the Greece Classic Basketball Showcase.
Leading 16-12 after the first quarter, Olympia poured in 23 points in the second quarter and never looked back.
Elijah Powell netted nine in the third stanza as Olympia stretched its lead to 15. The 6-foot-8 senior center converted a pair of free throws before finishing a basket in the lane. He grabbed his own miss for a putback and his three-point play made it a 51-37 game.

Green fed Melvin James to close the stanza at 56-41.
Brandon Neckles hit a three early in the fourth to cut the deficit to 12, but Odyssey did not get any closer.

James scored along the baseline, and Green nailed a pull-up three for a 17-point Olympia advantage. Two possessions later, Green connected from the right corner, and Olympia had its largest lead of the day at 66-48.
Green led all scorers with 21 to go with five rebounds and two steals. Powell recorded a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Jung added 15 for Olympia (2-10). The Spartans have won two straight. Olympia travels to play at Canandaigua on Wednesday. A 7:15 pm tipoff is scheduled.

John Mathis paced the Leopards with 17 points and six rebounds. Latrell Cooper added 13 for Odyssey (3-9). The Leopards host Pittsford-Sutherland on Wednesday for a 7:30 pm start.
