Looking back at last week’s top performances.
Davon Brown — 6-foot-4 Jr. F Leadership Academy Lions: Soft touch around the basket capable of finishing with either hand, active rebounder who can corral boards in traffic, at the same time uses quick first step to run down caroms outside the three-point arc. Effective distributor from the high post area, sees the floor well and finds teammates where they can score. Heady off-the-ball defender who doesn’t over-commit in help situations. Runs the floor well and catches in transition, capable of making decisions on the break.
Chris Gibson, Jr. — 6-foot-2 Jr. F Monroe Redjackets: Inside-outside threat who can finish putbacks with contact. At the same time, can step out for catch-and-shoot three-pointers. Makes effective and economical use of the dribble to create shots and/or passing angles. Slashing forward who can catch in traffic and finish at the rim. Developing defender who can guard a variety of positions.
Tajmin Holt — 6-foot-3 Sr. G Early College Cobras: Saw first action of the season last week after having surgery in September to repair a broken foot suffered during summer league play. Range out to 25 feet, but easily puts the ball to floor where he uses his 185-pound frame to bounce off would be defenders. Talented distributor in transition, understands when to give up ball on the break and when to finish. Intelligent defender who reads angles well and cuts off opponents looking to drive to basket.
Rondell Watson — 5-foot-10 So. G Leadership Academy Lions: Streaky shooter who can fill it up in a variety of ways. Can connect behind the arc over a ball screen. At the same time is always ready for catch-and shoot opportunities. Moves well without the ball, can manage to get lost in a crowd and then appear in the corner without a defender within 10 feet. Sets up quick first step with a inside/out dribble that freezes opposing defenders. May be at his best knocking down rhythm jumpers off the dribble.

Divine Williams 5-foot-9 Jr. G McQuaid Jesuit Knights: Rugged on-the-ball defender who stays balanced and brushes off contact. Quick, strong lateral movements dictate movements of opposing ballhandlers. Uses low center of gravity off the bounce to get to the basket, thrives on contact when finishing near the cup. Can take advantage of sagging defenses and knock down an open jumper.
