WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth basketball senior guard Je’lon Hornbeak (Arlington, TX/Grace Prep/Oklahoma) was named the MAAC Player of the Week for the second week in a row after recording a career-high 25 points and notching his first double-double against Princeton last Tuesday.
Je’lon Hornbeak put together another career-best game in helping Monmouth beat Ivy-favorite Princeton, netting a career-high 25 points, a career-mark 10 rebounds and tying a career-best in threes for the second game in a row with six. The guard posted his first career double-double as MU knocked in a season-high 96 points to set the program record for consecutive wins with nine, and the best start in school history at 10-2. He was 8-13 from the floor and 6-9 from downtown, also chipping in two assists in 30 minutes.
Hornbeak was named MAAC Player of the Week last Monday after netting 21 points and six triples in the MU victory at Memphis. Hornbeak and the Hawks are back on the floor Wednesday night at North Carolina, with tip set for 7:00 p.m. on ESPNU.
