Jeremiah Zitz netted a game-high 21 including eight in the fourth quarter, and the Irondequoit Eagles improved to 5-0 with a 68-56 victory over the Rush-Henrietta Comets in Monroe County action, Tuesday. Zitz connected on nine of 10 shots including a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter to become the fourth Eagle to lead the team in scoring in the early going of the season. Zitz added four rebounds and four steals to the effort.
Zach Stenglein added 18 points while handing out seven assists and collecting seven steals. Gerald Drumgooole registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. The sophomore forward dished four helpers. Tysean Sizer scored all nine of his points in the second half. Frederick June chipped in with six points and six assists.
Mecca McCullough paced R-H with 17 points. Kailee White added 16, and Chris Reed had 11. Irondequoit led 19-10 after the first quarter and took a double-digit lead of 34-23 into the locker room at halftime. R-H fell to 2-2 on the season. R-H hosts Gates-Chili for a 7 pm start on Thursday. Irondequoit travels to Webster-Thomas on Thursday for a 7 pm tipoff.
