MONROE COUNTY Division 3
BROCKPORT BLUE DEVILS (CLASS A1)
Last season: Finished 5-16 and lost to Canandaigua, 60-50 in the opening round of the A1 sectionals.
Coach: Sean Jessop (seventh year/35-105 overall).
Top returners: Antonio Alvarez Sr. three-year starter/First Team All-County (17.8 ppg), Raphael Odey Jr. G/F 6’2” Jake Juhrs Jr. SG 5’10” Noah Schultz Jr. C 6’6” and Willie Ball So. PG 5’7” (6.4 ppg).
Top newcomer: Amire Odey Jr. G/F 6’2”
Outlook: Brockport is a very athletic group but only returns two seniors. The Blue Devils will be young and lack some depth.
“Our biggest challenge this season will be our lack of experience. It will be important that we gel early and continue to grow throughout the season.”

CANANDAIGUA BRAVES (Class A1)
Last season: Finished 6-16 and lost to Greece Athena, 61-34 in the A1 quarter-finals.
Coach: Mike Broderick (20th year)
Top returnees: Carson Greene (led the Braves in assists, steals and charges taken in 2015-16 – 2nd in scoring), Zach Wade (3rd in scoring, first in 3’s made), Scott Loforte (fourth in scoring, led the team in rebounds), Devin Andrews (second in steals), Brian Hoffman and Noah Emerson.
Top newcomers: Connor Fisher G/F (6’1″ 160) Devin O’Dell F (6’0, 160) and Dan Herrick G (5’10″ 150).
Outlook: Goal is to be competitive in a tough Monroe County III League and A1 Sectionals.

GREECE ATHENA TROJANS (Class A1)
Last season: Finished 21-2, won the division and was runner up to Pittsford Sutherland in A1.
Coach: Mike Setzer (First year)
Top returners: Nigel Scantlebury G (8 ppg 4 apg), Kenny Speed G (10 ppg, 2.5 steals per game), Patrick Meisenzahl G (3.2 ppg) and Ryan Kubanka F (3 ppg, 4 rpg).
Returners to see increased role: Chad Scorse 6’3” F, Israel Dudley 6’4” F, Jamie Shoemaker 5’8” G and Colby Tuttle 6’2” F.
Top newcomers: Timothy Brimacomb 6’3” Jr. F, Ryan Lindeman 5’8″ Sr. G.
Outlook: Athena has many returning players on the roster, some of whom started regularly last season. However, the Trojans graduated one of the best players in Athena history – Anthony Lamb. The Trojans are small, but very fast and will be very competitive. They are looking to continue the winning tradition at Greece Athena.
“The most important teachable moment we can take from last year is to not take things for granted. We had a great chance to win sectionals and came up short in the finals.”
“We win if we play hard, we play smart, and we play TOGETHER. If we can cause turnovers and win the transition game, we will be tough to beat.”

PITTSFORD MENDON VIKINGS (Class A1)
Last season: Finish 9-13 and lost to Greece Arcadia, 74-50 in the Class A1 quarter-finals.
Coach: Bob Nally (second season/9-13)
Top returners: Jeremy Jacob Sr. PG (9 ppg), Zach Briggs Sr. F, Matt Powers Jr. G/F (10 ppg) and Taylor Genier Sr. G/F.
Top newcomers: Colby Barker S.r F 6’1″ 195lbs, Brennan Mooney Sr. G 6’1″ 170lbs and Connor Krapf So. G 6’0 145lbs.
Outlook: The Vikings will look to build on the leadership that comes from having eight seniors.
“Our biggest challenge to overcome this season will be establishing a consistent post presence, and being able to score inside the paint.”

PITTSFORD SUTHERLAND KNIGHTS (Class A2)
Last season: Finished 18-6 and claimed Class A1 Championship. Lost in the state qualifier.
Coach: John Nally (17th year/223-121 overall).
Top returners: Kevin Ryan So. (5 ppg, 5 rpg as a frosh) and Craig Rosen Jr. PG.
Outlook: Not many minutes or points returning for the Knights which graduated 10 seniors. JV team was 17-3 but they still have a lot to learn. Only five players return total, no others played a ton of minutes.
“Our biggest challenge to overcome this season will be lack of overall quickness and athleticism as well as inexperience.”
“We win if we shoot it well, figure out a way to rebound, and build some chemistry with all the new players and new roles for people.”

Last season: Finished 10-11 and lost to Irondequoit, 55-47 in the A-1 quarter-finals.
