CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – For the second consecutive week Lehigh senior center Tim Kempton has earned the Patriot League Men’s Basketball The Rock Player of the Week honors, while Boston University freshman forward Tyler Scanlon has earned The Rock Rookie of the Week honors.
Kempton averaged 27 points and 11 rebounds during a 1-1 week for the Mountain Hawks to earn his second weekly honor of the season. Scanlon came off the bench to help the Terriers to a three-game sweep in the Steve Wright Classic over the weekend.
Lafayette junior forward Matt Klinewski averaged 23 points during a 2-1 week for Lafayette. Boston University senior guard Eric Fanning averaged 14.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in a 3-0 weekend for the Terriers to earn honorable mention for the second week. Bucknell junior center Nana Foulland averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game over two games to earn recognition and Lehigh freshman guard Jordan Cohen rounds out the honorable mention selections after his 20-point outburst in a victory over Princeton on Sunday.

Tim Kempton, Lehigh, Sr., 6-10, C/F, Scottsdale, Ariz./Brophy College Prep
Kempton earned The Rock Player of the Week for the second-consecutive time after averaging 27 points and 11 rebounds, while shooting 54.5-percent (18-of-33) from the floor over two games. Kempton had a game-high 30 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Yale on Thursday, before scoring 24 points to go with 11 rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots in the Mountain Hawks first win of the season against Princeton. Kempton is among the nation’s leaders in points per game (26.3). He is now fifth in League history with 791 career rebounds.

Tyler Scanlon, Boston University, Fr., 6-7, F, Chantilly, Va./Westfield
Scanlon averaged 9.7 points off the bench over three games, helping the Terriers to a three-game sweep at the Steve Wright Classic. Scanlon shot 60-percent (9-of-15) from the floor, including 7-of-12 from 3-point range, while averaging 4.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He scored eight points and had five rebounds to help Boston University defeat Northeastern for the Terriers first win of the season, before scoring a career-high 15 points in a win over Maine. Also had a career-high eight rebounds in 18 minutes against LIU Brooklyn on Sunday.
WEEKLY HONORABLE MENTION
Matt Klinewski, Lafayette, Jr., 6-8, F, Vorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional
Klinewski averaged 23 points and 6.7 rebounds over three games, helping the Leopards to a 2-1 week with wins over St. Peter’s and NJIT. He tied his career-high with 26, along with five rebounds and three steals in Lafayette’s victory over St. Peter’s. Klinewski posted a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds over NJIT on Thursday, before scoring 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting in a loss to Cornell on Sunday. Klinewski is second in the League in scoring (20.3 points/gm), behind only Kempton.
Eric Fanning, Boston University, Sr., 6-5, G, Trenton, N.J./Perkiomen (Pa.)
Fanning averaged 14.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game over a 3-0 weekend at the Steve Wright Classic, helping BU to its first perfect finish in a regular season tournament since 1996. He scored a team-high 17 points, while helping the Terriers overcome a 12-point deficit to defeat Northeastern on Friday night. He also scored 13 points as Boston University handed LIU Brooklyn its first loss of the season on Sunday. Fanning shot 53.6-percent from the floor during the three-game stretch.
Nana Foulland, Bucknell, Jr., 6-9, C, Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic
Foulland averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game during a 1-1 week for Bucknell. In a win over Robert Morris, Foulland had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. He also posted five blocked shots, tied for the Patriot League season high. Against Butler, Foulland scored a game-high 16 points, shooting 7-for-8 from the floor to go with five rebounds in the loss.
Jordan Cohen, Lehigh, Fr., 6-1, G, Tarzana, Calif./Campbell Hall
Cohen made his first career start against Princeton and responded with career-highs in points (20) and assists (6) to help Lehigh defeat Princeton, 76-67 on Sunday. Cohen shot 7-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-4 from 3-point range. He also dished out four assists in 14 minutes off the bench in a loss to Yale on Thursday.
