Jefferson propels Duke to win over Penn State

Round up of Saturday’s top 25 action in men’s college basketball. 

#1 DUKE 78 PENN STATE 68 

Graduate forward Amile Jefferson picked up a double-double, 16 points and 16 rebounds, to lead Duke. Penn State’s freshman guard Tony Carr dropped 20 points, along with six rebounds and three assists. Duke improves to 3-1 and Penn State drop to 2-2.

#6 INDIANA 87 LIBERTY 48

Junior guard James Blackmon Jr. was the leader for Indiana with 20 points and nine rebounds, going along with sophomore forward OG Anunoby’s 10 points and 11 rebounds. Liberty was led by senior guard Ray Chen, who had eight points, two rebounds and one assist. Indiana moves to 3-0 and Liberty drops to 1-2.

#17 SAINT MARY’S 61 DAYTON 57

Saint Mary’s got a double-double from junior center Jock Landale with 15 points and rebounds 14. Dayton was led by senior guard Cahrles Cooke, who had 19 points and seven rebounds. Saint Mary’s goes to 3-0 to start the season, while Dayton takes its first loss of the year to go to 2-1.

#21 RHODE ISLAND 76 #24 CINCINNATI 71

Senior forward Kuran Iverson was the Ram’s top performer with 13 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Cincy nearly had its own double-double with junior forward Kyle Washington and his 23 points and nine rebounds. The Rams jump to 4-0 and Cincy is now 2-1.
